This is my fourth year back to biking. You couldn’t keep me off the bike the first couple of years – solo trips and long days out, whatever the weather, a born again feeling.

This year hasn’t been the same. Partly it’s because I moved house last year, and so I’ve busy around that. But also, when I have been out it's felt forced, and most rides somehow unsatisfactory.

Today, it didn’t really feel any different at the start. But was a crisp autumn day with clear skies, some great country roads I’d forgotten, and one of those days when it all clicks right from the off, when you actually feel part of the bike, totally in control, totally relaxed – corners taken on rails and in total command of your view.

As I peeled off from a roundabout and came to another set of lights on a two-lane highway, a Warwickshire Outlaw drew alongside on his Harly. I looked, half expecting to be looked down upon, but he gave me a very firm, respectful nod before we both moved on.

Couple more hours of great riding lay ahead until I returned home. I got off the bike with a spring in my step and couldn’t stop smiling.

I feel that I’ve fallen in love all over again.

So strange how you get these days when everything is totally top form.

What’s a Warwickshire outlaw ? :-) please don’t tell me it’s some sort of Hells Angel thing! That would be hilarious

Nice one OP, I'm with ya! Van Morrison wrote a song about it......... :thumby::aidan

So did the Foo Fighters

Try a new/different bike if the forced feeling returns?

Even more hilarious if you said that to his face. :D

Yup, back 35 years ago I was on the edges of some of these (Coventry Slaves), and even the underlings were to be respected - but then I'm a wimp. No reason to suspect they are any less to be 'respected' than back in 2008 https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2008/nov/28/hells-angels

Many of the Outlaws came together through an amalgamation of the local patches. The toshed, unbearded guy in the photos of the bottom of this page kindly stole my XJ600 back in 92.

Captures it nicely, thank you! :thumb:aidan

Yes, I'd like to keep the swiss army knife and add to it. I'm in the fortunate position to be able to add to the collection from a finance perspective but I have a 50's garage bulit for a small car. It's squeeze enough keeping the GS in there alongside a CRF250L. But totally agree with the sentiments.

Ye just had a day like that. Set off on a half hour bimble and got home 200miles later. Might listen to Van just to finish off a swell day :aidan
