My brother-in-law is getting married near Tralee next August, so we are planning on taking the opportunity to combine it with a family holiday before hand. Looking for an itinerary to occupy around a week or so of travelling before the wedding, ending up in Tralee. It will be my wife, me and our 2 girls (6 and 3) so looking for family friendly locations.

Any suggestions welcome :thumb

Hi Sam

There's plenty of ideas in a sticky here

Or you could give some idea of what you like to do..............I'd guess nothing too demanding, with a 3 year old to cater for?

With a bit of luck, you'll get some good weather and there are great beaches in the SW, but also some islands to visit and chill out on. You'll have a ball - but don't expect to cover too much of the area - travel times are longer than you might imagine

:aidan

Thanks for that :thumb

i guess beaches, museums, general sights etc would hit the spot.

I've have a read through the sticky and see what I can find :aidan

Start at Rosslare Harbour, Johnstown Castle, Heritage Park, Tintern Abbey (yes really), Kilmore Quay, ferry from Ballyhack to Passage East. On towards Dungarvan. Phew.
Follow the coast from Rosslare to Tralee and you will have a pretty good trip.
Check out B&B only, don't go near the hotels. There are some with farms and the kids can see d'animals!

I live in Tralee - let me know of your tastes or inclinations in more detail by PM in the new year and I'll give you the best steer I can.

welcome to stay here if coming through Tipperary, plenty to see and do, check out www.abbeyvalehouse.com :)

Sam, I and many other Tossers here can highly recommend Abbey Vale house to you. Holy Cross is a beautiful village with a few good eating houses nearby. Well worth a call on your way over or back. :thumb2

Kelly's Hotel in Rosslare has a great reputation for being family friendly and its very close to the ferry. Also a good place to use as a base for a few days.

I have no connection to this place.

Enjoy your trip.
