Fancy Cables

WTF is 'ampacity'?

It's all very well saying "-61% less resistance"[double negative!] but when the resistance of the OE cable is just 2/10ths of feck all, 61% of fuck all is still fuck all.

What's wrong with the standard item?

Cheap enough to give it a try. :thumb2

Just go to Halfords and look in the battery section,

they have loads of battery cables in stock lengths £6-£8 each

I did the same on my hexhead, you just run them direct from the starter to the battery

if you see no / marginal improvement, its your battery or starter ;)

It’s a bargain. Magic cable made out of magic metal not available anywhere else. My local car spares shop has many many such cables of varying lengths, thickness and terminal fittings, but they can’t be made from magic metal as they only cost about £3-£4 each.

get her ^^^ ...but she is correct.

i'd measure the resistance of your cables , remake the connections to frame and battery , and go from there.

i spend other people's money everyday, i have to make sure they get VFM. such stuff rarely gives VFM .

i just looked where you are ....a sweaty spunking cash, your dad would be ashamed of you.

Measuring low resistances is dodgy. Instead, measure the voltage drop. Set your meter to DC volts, clip one lead to the starter terminal and the other to the battery terminal, then press the starter. If you see more than a volt or two, you have a high-resistance cable/terminal connection.

Who's baffled? Upgrading various cables is definitely desirable on my Falco and well documented. I was just wondering if the same applies to GSs, nothing more.

did he buy ?

Who me? No, my bike is in Capetown ready to go on a ship (today or tomorrow with any luck) so I've lined up some service items and a couple of upgrades for when it returns to Blighty, but no cables. I did treat myself to a Mosko Moto duffel as well, so that's quite enough money spent for now.
