Farkle development including the front crud

1st off mad ramblings of a pressurised drunk

Guys here are the 1st designs. What do you think? I`m sure I can improve but of course thats what evolution is all about.

I always try to take something already very good and improve on it. The patterns I have used are TT ones and to always be very fair they are well made quality items, my only observation is that very VERY surprisingly the fit isn`t as good as I would have expected. no idea why - perhaps TT modelled them on a beta GS?

Anyway and with respect to TT I believe I have improved on the fit and have tried to strike a balance between lightness and armour. The protector consists of 3 flanged out panels (to maximise airflow) designed to absorb an impact rather than transmit it through to the fittings or radiator itself.

i intend to work on the design and as always any kind suggestions are always appreciated as, after all, I am making some of these for you guys who have already pre-ordered.

Hey guys, are these to help protect the rads while off roading? I mean are they to protect them from flying stones kicked up from bikes infront? For just road use the rads seem better out of the way than most other bikes where they are directly behind the front wheel. Just asking.

The LC ones look good Mark.:thumb If I didn't have the TT ones already, I'd have a set off you:rob:D

Off road and on road. When I was in vines the other day, their demo GS had several stone dents in the radiator already, and has only done a few hundred miles:eek::blast

i like the lc 1 :D
i ordered 1 from tt, 45 days ago...not that im counting..was told 7-10 days, rang them last saturday to be told they cant give me delivery date...wtf
i may cancel the order and have 1 of urs mark dependant on delivery times lol. can they be done black?

I`m not having a rant but I really can`t understand TT - they have HUGE resources, models loaned to them before they actually come out and yet STILL they quote us daft delivery times.

I`m a one man band (with the help of my lovely Kath), prototyping, evolution, testing, manufacturing, posting & enviable service and I can still beat the pants off TT but I shouldn`t be able to do that! I did the crud catcher from concept to posting out the first ones in a matter of days wtf TT?

Come on TT you should be able to eat me for breakfast on any of your selling points!

Rant over - yes I can do them in black and i think I could just only in a little bit beat 45 days (FFS).................

i`m still not happy about the design, gonna try something different...........

Agreed:thumb I'm still waiting for my beak extender from them, ordered at the beginning of February:blast

Like the slotted ones Mark. Is it me or do these offer a little more protection than the LC version?

yep possibly but anything smaller that the larger holes isn`t going to have that much energy in it simply due to its size (unless its a bullet).

but with that said the slotted one does seem to afford more protection.

I`m gonna turn in for the night but I`m working on another design, with large `holes` to maximise airflow but yet to stop anything large enough to cause serious harm.

I`m also working on the idea of `user set` flanges so that we can manually `set` the flanges to whatever angle we choose - the benefit of this is that the spring in the material will absorb the impact rather than transmitting it straight through to the fasteners or rad itself - it also means it is hopefully more easily repaired - or set back into shape.

its life, jim, but not as we know it...................

Hi Mark

Front crud arrived today, great quality thank you.

Put me down for a set of rad covers too!

Cheers

Kris

It's been over a month for me nutty for the beak extender, the best bit about it is its about £20 cheaper in Germany but they are waiting for the German shop to send it over and Im having the privilege of paying extra for ffs:mad:

I like the first ones, the non LC marked one. Lets have a look at the third prototype
With the stand off or springs :thumby::flag
