Just purchased a new to me R1150GSA - 02 Reg ending ZNO. I'm just putting together a thread as every GSer should ('nt) documenting their farkle journey!

In all honesty, there's not much more I can or want to do to it, but I've got a couple of things I really want to do, so here goes.

Part 1

The dreaded and controversial rear mud guard. After spending 4000+ miles following my father in law on his faithful 02 1150GS without a rear mudguard running the wonderful Metzeler Tourance tyres, I know first hand just how good that bike and tyre combo is at throwing up stones, twigs, rocks and other road bound shit (mainly sheep). The first thing that came to mind when I saw my soon to be new bike in the flesh was lets hope Motorworks stock them!

I thoroughly enjoy how the pannier racks fold down. I was able to use this as a fiddly bolt table and to prop a light so I could see properly.

And she's on, plenty of loktite and a hunt around for some allen keys (I am used to torx fittings!)

And my first Motorworks souvenir! Safe to say this won't be the last...

Part 2 to continue on Friday. Wiring and electrical stuff which makes me very uncomfortable. I'm a metal man!

Motorworks will probably remember you forever as the only person that has ever ordered one of those shite guards… I suspect almost everyone who got one new(ish) has one of those on a shelf in the garage - I’m fairly sure I do 🤣

So I hear it was all the rage when they first came out to remove. However crap they are at deflecting mud, they do a hell of a job stopping stones and other detritus from being chucked into the face of whoever is following you! I noticed a marked difference in stone chips, sheep shite in the face and various other missiles being flung at me when my father in law reinstalled his!

It is indeed, and what a machine it is!
Well done, I was bloody tempted myself but haven’t got any garage space and didn’t want to sell my Tmax to make room for it.

I wouldn’t be scared of the mileage, I saw a bike mag feature where they got Vines Motorrad workshop to strip and inspect an R1100 engine at similar miles and all they found was some very light cam lobe scuffs.

Yep, mines in the shed with the end can.

Removed many years ago and replaced with a re-purposed ‘paint’ tray way back in 2005. Works far better, stops all the sh1t spraying up on to the rear of the bike. End can removed and Stubby fitted at the same time.

Enjoy the bike, slow in comparison to modern bikes, but surprisingly quick getting from A to B.

Indeed
I have kept mine on the bike
BMW intended it, so fine by me

Enjoy the bike, Hayd!! She sounds sweet, testament to Twizzle's care over the years. A fantastic buy (but you already know this!).

Looking forward to putting a few more miles on it together in 2025 (.... sorry about the stones and sheep shit shower) :beerjug:

Nice! :thumb2
Now get yourself some clear indicator lenses and SILVER bulbs to go behind them.
If you use orange bulbs you get the “ fried egg “ look like the first pic.
If you use silver bulbs ( that flash orange ) they look superb. :thumb2IMG_4415.jpegIMG_5485.jpegIMG_5484.jpegIMG_5402.jpeg

Get a photo on the thread for inspiration!
I'm trying but the best I can find is below: The mount replaces the indicator stalk and incorporates a curved arm to mount a spotlight. It can be placed above or below the indicator, in my case above. Please also note the K1200RS mirrors which give a wider rearward view 😎

That sticker is rarer than you think; enjoy the bike 👍🏾

Which I (sadly) removed prior to collection….. as I didn’t think it would be of value to the new owner….PapaH was intrigued by the back story… the sticker minus any sticky is on its way by Royal Mail in the hope of re attachment
