Is it just me.

Had my 1150 in for its 6k service, and it now feels faster.

Don't know abut being faster, but everytime I have had mine serviced it always feels smoother more responsive even sounds better....for a while anyway...

Took my adv for it's first 6000 mile service last September. The ride there I was thinking to myself what a great bike, smooth etc. The ride back over the Humber bridge was totally different, vibrating, surging and I hated the thing.

Did my own valve clearances and carb balancing the next day using the workshop manual on here (also had a three minute lesson from Vern last August when I went down and bought a set of his lovely spacious panniers). Bike transformed once again - smooth minus surges.

I only visited the dealers because of the warranty, I preferred doing the work myself rather than wasting another day taking it back. I know it's a bit late now but I will be expressing my disappointment about it all when it goes back for the long list of warranty work it needs doing to it (made the mistake of riding it half a dozen times over the winter).

Erk. The symptoms sound horribly familiar...

Mine's still misbehaving and is returning to Vines tomorrow am for Phil to (hopefully) give it a proper caning, experience the fault properly and fix it.

I had the 6k service free at SPC as they hadn't sercived as they promised when I bought it at 3800 on the click. Seemed better.

Had 12k service in Arras and the bike felt like a new one. Smooth, no surge at all and seemingly swifter off the line. Now with 16500 on the clock it's back to being a bit sluggish.. but not too bad. Will book the 18k intermediate service back in Arras for later in the summer...

Going to be an expensive couple of months with insurance, 18k service and new tyres.....

Sorry, meant throttle body things (confused them with the other things on my '63 Norton). I Half expected someone else to pick me up on that, so thank you to those who spotted it for not shooting me down in flames and destroying my confidence!.

It's those nice BMW mechanics again. My Adventure went in for a free 6k service and came back with a an oil leak where the rocker cover hadn't been tightened up (new Karrimoor KSB boots covered in oil) and the throttle bodies still out of sync (checked them before the bike went in and they were the same when it came out). Freebie service so I couldn't really say a lot but thats the last time my bike sees a BMW dealer for servicing.

rant over

Wayne, get some pictures of the Norton on 'Show us yours'

They seem to loosen up, mine is at about 11Kmiles and it's much quicker than it was at 6K, top speed is only up to 125mph but it pulls like a train, in all gears but 6th, to the red line.

I've noticed some vibes at 5000-5500 rpm which I think means the TB needs synching, something I want to learn to do but don't have the time for now,:( I expect it to fly after the 12K service.:D
