Yes but to be fair.. Technology is far more advance now so obviously more things to go wrong.. all the new bike models suffer these Teething faults.. but JDS seems to have had is more than fair share.. at the very least BMW should offer him some kind of compensation as his reported problems have help with the later build models..This is shocking. You must be absolutely fuming!
I (genuinely) don’t seek to pour scorn onto your situation, but if I added up all of the faults on both of my 1150’s over the years, they wouldn’t amount to as many as you’ve suffered. Whatever you decide to do, good luck.
Same is true of my old airhead R100GS which I’ve been running for 34 years. Hate fucking software and I used to do it for a living - probably why I moved to France and became a builder which may seem a bit extreme and not a route I’d expect any 1300GS owner or potential owner to take. I got really pissed off taking my new K100RS back to the dealer to get the speedo working especially when I got nicked for doing 40 in a 30 whilst I was on my way. My new telly has an AI processor which hasn’t gone wrong yet (only had it 2 days) but what was I thinking when I bought it.This is shocking. You must be absolutely fuming!

I got a good deal and a goodwill contribution from dealer.I have similar problem with my TFT screen on my two week old 1300GSA - Rev range goes red, no rear lights, no horn, no indicators, no speed showing. Has your dealer now got to the bottom of the problem? If so what did they do / replace? Thanks
)If you can, Buy new. Second hand you are going in blind.I bought an approved used 2016 LC at the start of covid
In the three years i managed to own it, it spent 18 months in the dealers having fault after fault fixed,
i worked it out, Every 12 weeks a component failed !
Resulting in min 2 weeks in the dealership to a eyewatering 7 months waiting for parts!!
The final straw was it breaking down on the way to have a retro fit of accessories
i left it at the dealers and told them i didn't want it back
I paid 8.5K and gave it away for 4K
Fuel filler pot
LH switch assy
Throttle assy
Throttle wiring
Rear shock
Cam sensor
Rear shock
Main ECU
Fuel pressure regulator
Throttle Body
And even with a 2 year and extra years warranty it still cost me 1K of my own money

Ducati have a 4 year one , for me its a no brainer . New is best if you can .Modern motoring seems to come with the caveat that you need to have a decent warranty tucked in your back pocket as these premium bikes get more and more complicated, dealer hourly rates soar through the roof, and also the component quality becomes more compromised in the search for profits.
Maybe we need to start demanding longer warranties from new, and if they have faith in their product, why not.
Must admit with the ever-escalating cost of dealer servicing I'd be closely checking for evidence of dealer or mechanic servicing if I was considering a 2nd hand bike. Having seen some nightmares I'd not accept a home serviced bike.Ducati have a 4 year one , for me its a no brainer . New is best if you can .
With an industry which is struggling, using your dealer is a positive, keeps jobs, job done right and also build relationships with staff . It’s a cost that I accept due to my love of bikes and also a reliable one lolMust admit with the ever-escalating cost of dealer servicing I'd be closely checking for evidence of dealer or mechanic servicing if I was considering a 2nd hand bike. Richard, I had exactly that when my lithium battery failed. BMW diagnostics confirmed the issue.I have similar problem with my TFT screen on my two week old 1300GSA - Rev range goes red, no rear lights, no horn, no indicators, no speed showing.
