how do I check if i have a faulty fuel injection pressure regulator fault engine wont start new pump has been fitted
 
Swap it out for a new one, I would expect...

BTW, if you do this, get one for a K1200RS. It's the same fitting, but runs at 3.5 bar pressure. Steptoe posted this suggestion a couple of years ago & I just changed mine before going to the TT this year. It made a noticeable difference to the throttle response & the way the bike ran from 5k rpm & beyond. The cost of the part is the same, whichever version of the regulator you go for.

If you haven't got a gauge you can try the roadside breakdown diagnostic method - Squeeze the fuel return pipe with some grips so you build up some pressure manually. Not to much, and not too little. And not for long ( just long enough for it to start).

If you have a spare regulator you can fit it with some extra fuel line just to check, Save taking off lots of parts and lifting the rear subframe to replace it and finding it's no different.

Is the bike single or twin spark?.
What makes you think it's a fuel regulator problem?.
What were the original symptoms/circumstances?.
Fuel pipes refitted correctly?
Can you hear the pump priming?.
 
the bike cut out last weekend this happened once before but it corrected itself, the pump was not priming so i fitted a new pump it primed and started first time but then has not primed since

The pump has to run for the pressure regulator to operate.
So if the pump isn't priming the regulator is not your problem.

Look at the 4-pin connector that feeds the pump and fuel level indicator.
Check/clean the pins and sockets inside it as they can corrode and cause problems.May also be worth putting a meter across the tankside pump wires and wiggling the cable,looking for intermittent open circuits.Also check for voltage actually getting to the connector.
 
thanks guys I take your comments on the fuel regulator and realise that is nothing to do with the problem. i have connected the multi plug at the tank end direct to a battery and the pump works, but I am not sure imgetting pwer to the other end of the plug.At a loss at what to do next I checked the plugs and apear to have no spark either, could it be the side stand cutout at fault?
 
Check the fuses. Numbers 4 and 5, number 3 as well as i'm not sure what year bike you have.
 
Have checked the fuses and all are OK but i have now checked an there is no power to the plug at the tank,ignition wiring seems fine what would happen if the side stand switch was faulty would this affect the spark plugs or fuel pump or both?
 
thanks for the input guys,all sorted now striped the side stand switch out and cleaned it now everything is working fine:beerjug:
