Hi All,

I did a search but couldn’t find anything about this topic.

My 1150GSA m.y. 2005 has some issues with the right rear indicator. I’ve owned the bike for the last two years and I’ve already replaced the lens three times. It basically seems that the fixing toward the rear light fails after a few miles. Every time I end up riding either without the lens or with the lens still fixed but only because of the screw on the outside.

Last time I got the bike serviced the guy – very kindly – replaced the original BMW screw with a different one, saying that it would have assured the lens to stay in place. But after a few miles same story again.

I've always bought the lens from moto-bins website, which as far as I know have genuine (or well made) parts.

Has anyone had this kind of issue and if so how has that been resolved?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Gab

You could run a small bead of silicon around the edge of the lense, tighten screw and it should stay put.

Other option is a bit of blu tack inside indicator body, extra weight changes harmonic frequency which should stop screw coming out etc.

Thanks. Will try to do so.

Second option about harmonic frequency is brilliant! :thumb2

Clear or orange lens ? The reflectors are different between the two, perhaps you have the wrong reflector fitted causing the lens problem

I broke my lens tag that fits into the slot of the indicator body when using too much force and screwing in the screw. Finally glued the tab back on and Put it back in more carefully. The tab goes behind the bulb housing (take bulb housing out and you will see a little hole slot in indicator body). If indicator lens tab is not seated when screwing it back up, it will snap.
