Tiscali have just cancelled my account for no reason other than the system says "No".

They can't re-connect so I've just got to organise a new account.

Any recommendations. "Except Tiscali"

They are crap (Just my opinion of course)

I was very happy with Virgin for a long time, no problems at all. I only changed from them because they became uncompetitvely expensive. I'm now with TalkTalk (owned by Carphone Warehouse) and again very pleased. I pay about £22 a month (can't remember exact figure) and get unlimited 24/7 broadband (up to about 8megs connection speed I think, though I rarely get above 3.5 which is fast enough!), unlimited 24/7 free landline calls, unlimited 24/7 free international calls to about 38 countries AND line rental all in the price. The only things I pay extra for are calls to mobiles and some of those 08** numbers.

Just had a look and it's the "Talk Global Anytime" for £20.99/month that includes 8meg Broadband.

PS I thing I would add though is that when I changed over, about 3 years ago, it did take a little while for them to set up the broadband but as I still had the Virgin connection at the time it wasn't a problem for me. That was over 3 years ago now and they'd only just started offering broadband so things may be quicker now :)
 
It doesn't really help but I've been having loads of problems recently emailing people with tiscali accounts, from my Orange account, as tiscali simply blacklisted orange accounts, or so it seemed.
I could email everyone else from my address book except tiscali people.
The tiscali help desk people were distinctly unhelpful.
Problem has since righted itself, although it took a couple of weeks with no feedback whatsoever from the tiscali crowd.
In the UK I used demon for many years with no problems at all.
 
Check to see if your mobile phone supplier has a deal going. O2 discount their ADSL service for cell phone customers and it has a good reputation as they took over Be*.

As you say Tiscali customer service dept just say No bit like Little Britain.

I personally found them totally useless and smug.

What pissed me off was they cancelled the contract and couldn't then give me a MAC code to transfer because I no longer had an account with them.

It'll now take about 15 days before the tag comes off the line allowing my new account to be set-up (O2 by the way).

I spoke to a friend in work and a similar issue occured on his account, however he had the Baliffs sent round claiming that he hadn't paid his bill.

TISCALI are totally crap-Rant over

couldnt give me a decent feed, always off line, awfull service:mcgun, overcharged me when i left, use sky instead:thumb
 
Tiscali

Bneen with them for about two years after being with Tesco for three and it working for an hour!. Always been ok but very diffiocult getting on in the evenings after about 6.30 it gradually gets worse and worse. Help line in sunny doqwn town deli and can't undedrstand them any way but they just read from a menu and tell me it's my fault,. get more sense out ot the local curry house!. Am looking around for somthing else thought about talk talk but when they started they had a lot of probs keeping up with demand but guess thats history now.
 
thats it, it was always my fault too, turned out ,they hadnt checked, and it was there side of things
