Had the same shite on my computer about a year ago.
Thought af first Paul needed a new Yacht and this was to pay for it, but then I logged on with a different computer, and nothing. If you are using chrome,it does things like this as standard. I was using Firefox and an ad server had hijacked something in it. Firefox can be setback to original settings which removes the garbage, so I noticed last week. Myke

Sounds like an Add-ware virus, doesn't do any damage it's just annoying. You can down load Anti-Malware, it will do a clean up, it's free and trusted.
