Almería to Nador is coming up OK for that date so I don't know why. I'm told Nador is an easier border experience but is a daytime crossing so you lose a day's riding.
I did Almería to Melilla a couple of days ago and the border is a right pain, even though I've done it three times before. Make sure you complete your temporary import form before leaving home. When you get to Almería port you need to exchange your online reservation for boarding cards. Ask at the desk for a fiche for Morocco police (the entry form).
When you get to Beni Enzar (the border), filter past all the cars and get to a little compound where there's a couple of customs officers. Park here and walk forward 100m to where there's some cabins, wait in line and get your passport stamped. Then move left to another queue and get your temp import papers done. Walk back to the bike and let the customs officer check the forms and (if necessary) visually inspect the VIN. Finally... walk back to the cabins and this time head for the buildings on the left where a head honcho will put a final stamp on the form.
Or... pay a helper.
