I have a Danish mates coming to stay 20th July. They hope to leave the west of England the end of July and ride north to and around mainland Scotland before taking the ferry to Shetland. From Shetland they would like to get a ferry to Norway.

My map shows a summer ferry route from Lerwick to Norway. I have just spent an hour searching the web but I can't find any information on any routes. Can anyone tell me if there are any ferries going to Norway from northern Scotland?

Any information greatly appreciated.

Smyril Line used to sail from Lerwick and Scrabster to Bergen but their homepage is unavailable. I wonder if they have ceased operating.

I got a reply to an email re Scrabster to Faroe Isles/Iceland a few months ago, i'm sure there was an Bergen leg so you may need to do Lerwick/Scrabster then Scrabster Bergen http://www.smyril-line.com/ is working for me ?? summer only though and dates don't always tie together :(

I did Orkney/Shetland/ Norway 2 years ago - Northlink ferries sorted it out.

you have to ring them though.

Thank's everyone. I have sent my mate the Smyril Line' link and Northlink's telephone number. I think they should be able to sort something :thumb2
