Fiamm horn fitting

I am planning on fitting a pair of Fiamm electrostatic horns to my 07 GS. I intend to carry a fused live direct from the battery to the relay and use the GS horn line as the switching current on the battery.

I have two questions
1. will I get a problem/message from Canbus?
2. should I use the GS fuse box for the power supply?


any ideas?

I take it you mean use the existing horn line to switch the relay.

This set up should be OK - it's what I'd do, but I fitted a small Stebel directly inplace of OE horn instead (I would love to have twin Fiamms though).

I've taken a direct feed off battery for dash socket and Zumo and didn't go near the fuse box, so maybe you can avoid touching fuse box too.

I have also fitted a small Stebel and am pretty unimpressed - hence the move to Fiamms which were a good buy on fleabay

Hi one and all, I'm a newcomer to the site and apologise if I appear to be trying to hijack this thread but I am no familiar with all of the content yet. I am in Mexico at the moment and will be heading north through the US where I am thinking about getting a pair of FIAMM Freeway Blasters to

a. Frighten off trucks, buses and other mean things that keep trying to kill me.

b. Enhance my libido. whatever that means.

Anyone fitted these life savers to an R1200GS (2004) and if so were there any problems with placement, wireing, fuses, relays and the like? I am an electrical dxylictec so be gentle with me please.

Hi Teamwimp, the setup will work fine. Live feed from the battery to a relay then use the switched feed from the existing horn feed. Nippy Normans do a connector so you dont need to cut the wires off the existing horn. A sensible option I think.
On an '07 GS A (not sure if you have a gs or gsa) the horns can be squeezed above the fuel pump on the top LHS of the fairing. Otherwise (or on an 08 bike) I had to use the mounting bar under the front Beak). On both occasions the set up could be reverted to the standard horn (still in place) in a few moments, should my setup fail.

Thank you for your reply, I have searched this site, the HUBB and ADVrider and could not find the answer to my request. If you know of a thread anywhere which covers the fitting of the aforementioned horns to a'04 R1200GS please let me know. Ride safe.
