Final drive issue? Or just paranoia?

Just been out on my 2007 GS and notice a new sound/noise? Seems to be coming from the back - a kind of groan......groan.......groan......... It's a cyclic groan - if that makes sense?

Bike has only done 8,000 miles and has been properly looked after by main dealer.

At a stand still, if I turn the rear wheel by hand I can hear a kind of 'tick tock' sound.

I have just fitted new tyres, they are the same as I had before (Tourance - old style).

Also turned the wheel with bike in gear, clutch pulled and the sound is the same 'tick tock.

Any thoughts? An issue or paranoia?

Just had another listen - the tick tock sound is coming from the gear box area rather than the be final drive.

The groan could be tyre noise - I got that with Tourances at certain speeds / rpm and was convinced it was drive related

Ive always heard a kind of pulsing throbby type noise from my 1200 twin cam and my older 1150 GS too.

I would say if the noise has only appeared following tyre replacement it is most probably tyre related

Don't rely on main deal services as they don't check final drive on every service!!!! I ask/make them change the oil and ask for the oil in bottle or take it to Mikeyboy of this parish as he is the kiddy to know what's wrong.

It could be that the spline on the end of the prop shaft is dry and putting pressure on the joints and bearings.
