Ok Chaps
Need a little help.
I have just taken my 1100GS fully loaded with pillion down to Morocco (on my honeymoon would you believe) and back, Boiling hot all the way, What a trip.
Anyway part way back and mid way in France, I get a vibration from the rear, oil over the tyre and panniers.
Take a look at the final drive and its leaking like a good one. I filled it up continued, It emptied itself and so the cycle continued till I got home.
The vibration is really bad now,
Removed the drain plug on the final drive, and it has all sorts of chunks on it. No wheel play at all, so I am guessing I have a disintegrated input bearing which intern may have beaten up the gearing.
What are my options hear. Do I strip and repair (should be off the bike this evening) do I buy second hand unit, or bite the bullet and get a new one at £700+. The problem is I am planning a rather longer trip next year and I will need reliability.
Any thoughts?
Oh by the way If I get a new or second hand final drive does it make any difference if I get a ABS or non ABS, The Bike is a ABS unit but I am ripping that out anyway,
