So I washed my bike recently and, whilst it was on it's centre stand, I started the bike and put it in first to let it run a little.

I noticed a "clunking" noise coming from the final drive shaft, this noise IS NOT there when weight is on the wheel but on the centre stand, making quite the clunking. My only thinking is that there's no weight on the drive shaft or am I wrong?

Can anyone else put their bike on their centre stand, put it in first and let me know if their drive shaft makes any noise at all? If not I guess it's a trip down to BMW for me..

you have posted in the LC sections, so have you had the shaft "not a recall but really a recall" inspection and potential replacement? The latter should be done at 37500 miles anyway. All free of charge.

It's only on 13700 miles so no, not sure about the previous owner..
Completely normal, do not start bike on centre stand and let it run in gear, bad angles on the driveshaft.
Do a search on here been a question asked many times.
Ahhh okay so my thinking was on the same lines. Noted, thank you!

Even worse to accelerate it through gears in this position. God knows why you’d want to, but you can never be sure after a few drinks?! 😂

………..I’ve even heard fables of guys warming up their final drive oil (to change) with this methodology. Nobody on here, I’m sure though?! 😬
