I doubt that it's any different to the 1150 where you can fit final drives from other bikes quite happily, as long as they are the same shape fd unit as the gearing is internal to the FD itself. For instance, Paul Young has his geared up with an RT final drive and I have a lower geared FD ready to fit for trail use.
As G5RJO says, the ABS and Traction Control could get a bit shirty because you are likely to have the same symptoms as putting the wrong sized ABS ring on the front - the rear wheel could end up appearing to go faster than the bike should, causing the system to throw a strop. However, if you are gearing the bike down, which it looks like you are doing in this case (31 turns of the shaft for 11 turns of the wheel) then that may not be a problem either. I guess it's likely that the traction control may kick in a bit sooner as the engine management will be thinking that the wheel is on the verge of slipping all the time.
It's all speculation on my part though, but I think it is still definitely worth pursuing.
