Hi people after seeking advice for which software package to edit films with... Someone me, has made a large boo boo

I checked the spec on the box online.. Anyhow I'm using windows & this is MAC software!

So my dilemma is sell the software & two large books on it. Or find a way of loading a virtual environment letting me use the software in XP???

Help

*Bart moment over*

:blast

firstly get rid of the software if it's unopened you should be fine, to have a virtual enviroment will probably set up software conflicts.

what do you want to edit? is it short stuff, complex stuff do you want to learn the principals of editing first? and the move on...

MSN moviemaker is free and not bad to learn on after that premier pro is my fav for PC.

Yeah looks like I will have to sell it. Final cut express 4 + FCE4 Movie making for everyone (book+ dvd) + FCE4 Editing workshop (book + dvd lessons). Spent £120 odd..ffs

There's no possibility of it working within a Linux OS??

All i want is a semi decent (paid for) software that I can say i fking own & no-one will give me grief.

What I want to do is clip lots of crap moments from my rideouts etc. Add some tunes & add text to explain; whats what.

:cool

What Lo-IQ said.

Sell the software, or buy a Mac. ok, sell the software then...

Try out Windows Movie maker - it's free and half decent.

I have been editing video professionally for a number of years and have yet to find any cheap software for a Windows PC that was worth the effort. Nothing comes close to Final Cut on the Mac.

For Windows about the best cheapy I have found is Premiere Elements but its worth spending a bit more and going for the Full Premiere package at a little less than £300.

Incidentally, if you go the Mac route you can also use Premiere but Final Cut Express at £120 and Final Cut Pro at £816 are the SAME program. The Pro version just comes with more codecs and extra programs that you almost certainly don't need. Final Cut was originally developed by the team that made Premiere and although they have since both developed on different lines they are very similar.

OK - Final Cut is very very good, but for topping and tailing clips for YouTube you can't go wrong with free stuff like Moviemaker....

Cheers guys for responses.

I've used W-moviemaker & its okay. Still really annoyed with myself over this. :tears

I really don't need another computer & OS to learn.
