Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
And there was I getting worried about my income, not a bit of work since I got back to Ireland two and a half months ago...

But it is easy, sign on and get 90k Eur a year, I personally have never ever earnt anywhere near that a year...

Admittedly I am not disabled, have only two kids and not four and luckily own my own home but for fek sake surely I could get 45k...

Where do I sign, and why have I been waiting..

Not surprising Ireland is up shite street without a paddle..

Just my opinion by the way... They are, after all, entitled....:rob

Somebody else graduated at the Gordon Brown school of economics.

How on earth do you get 90K on the dole? I take it thats what your intimating.

That's exactly what he's getting at.
Did the Brits go ahead with a proposal a few years ago, where a cap on social support for a household was to apply, equivalent to the average industrial wage. :nenau
Made a lot of sense to me when I heard it!

This country is run by feckless morons and its stories like that family getting 90K in take home money from social welfare that underlines it. To take home 90K a year in a job I reckon you'd have to be earning about 150K or more before you pay taxes. This family was from Croatia or somewhere out east, probably getting more than their Craoatian president in take home pay now. Some politician is challenging this sort of carry on though and he claims that 50K should be enough for any family to live on. I mean 50K, for fecks sake what sort of a joke is that, how many hard working families take home 50K a year and get free GP etc to boot( you have to pay for the Gp here in Ireland unless you are on welfare). So we have morons running the show, and morons part 2 in the sidelines, that only leaves some rather dubious characters an open door to get themselves into major positons of power.

I'd settle for €40k...
o.k then €35k?

ffs... €30k? :(

aww g'wan! please? :nenau

just get me a lotto ticket then. :P

Well at least it's good to know that if Martin McGuinness becomes president he's promised to continue with his salary of €300 a week (€15,000 pa)

Its a ruse to distract u from the mess the politicos r making of this fine country, focus on the real facts that the leaders r paying billions back to bondholders that are unsecured , billions that u and our children will have to repay, billion is a thousand million,
Btw jsa is 188 euro , live on that if u can

I guess if I didn't have to pay for the roof over my head and support a family I'd survive on well under 188 euro, I wonder who it is that has to survive on the 188 euro alone. Its a real fact that the Irish system is extremely generous, a legacy from the spend freely days of the celtic tiger and the usage of the welfare system by our politicians as a vote winning machine. For instance there are many reports of people travelling down south from the north to claim as its far more generous than Uk system. The welfare systems in Uk and Ireland were originally set up as a safety net to prevent people falling into poverty and squalor when they became ill or lost their jobs. Unfortunately it has now gone so far that for many it makes no financial sense to go out and work as they can base their whole life on the welfare system such that they can get a house, feed and clothe their children, buy the 3D Tv, run a car, have foreign holidays, have a pint or two and smoke etc etc without ever having to do a days work or take responsibility. Its true that the governmemnt have made monumental f**k ups in how they managed the banks and how they bought the lies fed to them by their banking cronies without ever questioning them. However most working people that I know are appalled and angered at the thought of their hard earned taxes being squandered left right and centre.

That is 188EUR more than I have been earning the last little while.

I have no problem with the need for benefit systems but 90k per year. FFS

You are correct about the billions being paid back to the banks etc, but that is in fact a different story.

Self employed

I was down South again at the weekend in the car and was listening to one of the local stations.
Is it right that if you are self employed and work drys up that you are not entitled to state benifit ?

As a broad sweeping generalisation, yes.

In certain or most cases yes. However if your name is Vladimir and you have no job you can fly into Ireland with no job lined up here either, sign up and get paid Social welfare straight away. Great little country isn't it.

By the way, I have no issue with a non national who worked here and then lost their job getting paid SW.

Did he do well out of the Nothhern Bank job, or something? :nenau

Same shit in the UK, and to be honest many other European countries are having similar issues now, having spent a fair bit of time touring around Europe and meeting locals they seem to have a lot of this crap going on as well.

I think there are two distinct camps, those who are out of work, would love to work but find the social pay them way more than they could get from a job.

Then you have the scrounging oxygen thieves that really do need shooting, they know how to work the system and can get huge amounts by claiming a million different benefits, often they are second, third or even fourth generation scroungers who think the world owes them a living.

As a tax payer for the last 25+ years with never a social claim I know I would not get bugger all despite the tens of thousands I have put in, yet others who have never done a days work have bigger houses than me, huge plasma TV's and enough cash to be down the pub several times a week :blagblah

Oh, I forgot about the teenage parents who drop kids as a way of getting a "free" house.

The system should be geared to paying more to those who have paid in and severely limiting the cash provided to lazy bastards, and those who are here illegally / not originating from the UK etc.

I also don't think houses should just be dished out to every teenager who gets up the duff, if the houses were not handed out left right and centre far fewer girsl would get pregnant, the consequences to them should be hardship, not financial rewards beyond any earning capacity they could ever dream of achieving.

I think the nanny state that has come about through labour and the EU is going to destroy civilisation as the scroungers (who breed like rabbits) will eventually outwieigh those who are working ot keep them in the manner they have become acustomed.

They should scrap loads of the benefits, limit any family payout to a sensible amount, stop dishing out £400k homes to these arseholes and use the money saved to employ more police and give tax breaks to lower earners so working at minimum wage pays better than scrounging - there is no excuse for anyone to get above minimum wage - and finally shoot the doo gooders who seem to insist on paying feckless morons more than decent hard working folk.

Lets line them up and :mcgun
