Finally managed to source a Centech fuse panel from this site, and spent a couple of frustrating hours trying to find where on earth I could fix it, on my 2013 F700 GS. Boy, BMW have used every last centimeter, and I only managed 2 potential possibilities-

1. under the seat, over the fuel pump rubber protection -snag is although it will just about fit, there is no easy way of attaching the centech so that it is reasonably safely attached,

2. over the battery, but the plastic battery securing bracket would need serious modification, and even then it would be a very tight fit, thanks to the underneath of the plastic section that holds the 12v socket etc.

So, anyone any ideas please ? Must be somewhere surely ?

Only other possible place, but far from ideal would be in the lower left hand side of the frame, where there is no panel, but it would then be far too exposed to the elements, as he Centech panel has a common bus-bar for all the -ve cables, so might be prone to shorting out with the -ve rail !!!!

Maybe I should just use a cheapo fuse box ......I do like the Centech though, it's very neat and compact.

So - who's managed to fit a fusebox ....:banghead: and where .....?

If you had bought a PDM 60 you could have located it anywhere on the bike as it is totally waterproof.

Not much help on your current fuse box though

There's room on top of, and just behind the battery ... well there is on my 2008 F800GS. Had mine fitted there since new, short wires then to the battery :thumb

Photo's later if you require Sir ;)

Edit ... just had a look, can't find a photograph. But it does fit there honest :thumby:
The front of the Centech sits on the plastic battery holder, the rear, with a couple of small self tappers, in to the top front of the airbox :thumb2

Thanks Micky - I did kind of consider that option, but was a bit reluctant to drill into the air box in case it might leak a bit ! Bit of silicone would sort that I guess. But I must say, there is no wasted space on these new-fangled bikes .....not like an airhead eh?!
I'll give the bike another look in the daylight ....bloody winter.

As Micky says, it will slide in there vertically ........ why would you need to drill the airbox?

Ask Micky- !!
I think it's a mighty tight fit to sit vertically?
The battery is out at the moment( went totally flat over about 2 weeks...:-(...)

But I didn't slide it in vertically ... it sits flat and nicely to hand. The pick up wires to the battery are short, the self tapping screws into the air box tighten and therefore are airtight (they're only small after all)

When it comes time to take the airbox off then the Centech stays attached to the battery securing plastic thingy, just remove the said two self tapping screws at the rear, and move the battery securing plastic thingy, and Centech unit, to one side out of the way. Sorted :thumb

At 110,000 miles the valve clearances are bang on, midway between max & min permitted, never needed adjustment, so just a plug change every 24,000 miles

Sorry, As Micky says it will fit. I fitted mine vertically .. between battery and airbox.

I have mine positioned horizontally above the battery just had to trim the plastic down on the top panel 12v socket mount, haven't got a pic, but i'd rather modify something that won't be noticed if the fuse panel gets removed bar 2 holes in the battery strap.
Only down side is its like a web of wires that need disconnecting when you need to get below the battery/airbox

Thanks shaunj, - the battery holder was my original plan and I'm getting a used one to hack about. I thought that if I removed the clip that holds that 3 pin connector, then there should just be space enough for the Centech.
As you say, preferable to drilling into the air box; bike is still under warranty, so avoids any dealer discussions using the battery clip. Good to know that it will actually fit.
Reckon if I make a tidy cable loom and enough slack, then should be easy to move to one side complete with all wires still connected , should I need to remove the battery or air filter etc.

Then just use sticky Velcro to fasten the rear of the Centech unit to the top of the airbox if you don't want to drill it ... no need to hack anything about then :nenau

That's what I did with mine, take off the 4 mounting lugs to let it sit down flush on the airbox.

Andy.

I kinda worked that bit out!!! But worth pointing out though. Soon as I get rid of this blasted cough and cold I'll get it all sorted. Might even post a photo in case anyone else has the same problem.
Thanks for everyone's help. Cheers
Roger and out
