on the road in 2012............

So after a prolonged 6 month hibernation, it was time to get out on a big GSA again

The sun was out, tyres pumped up and the tax disc renewed - so a date in the Dales beckoned and the bike fired straight up after 6 months of being laid up, fuelled up @ Masham and we were off - chilly although dry & sunny

I decided to have a run over the Yorkshire BMW meet @ Cracoe for lunch ( plenty of UKGSERS there too:augie)

East Witton, a pretty Yorkshire village - south of Leyburn

From Middleham it was over towards Kettlewell, via Carlton and Horsehouse on a road without any traffic................pure bliss

After lunch, with friends - it was back up to Kettlewell and Buckden, where I took the left fork to Hubberholme, stopping to take a few pics high up in Wharfedale

Climbing up through Oughtershaw and onto Cam Fell, I came across a bike Trial, run by Bainbridge MotorClub at the end of the Roman Road, so I pulled the GSA up the limestone track and watched a few sections
A lad came over and offered me a cup of tea, many thanks and we struck up a conversation about the Trial, we had a good chat and after drinking tea, he gave me a contact card for the Club and I said I'd like to join in at a Trial later in the summer. You meet some cracking people at a Trial, really friendly and helpful - unlike most road bikers:blast

Next was Hawes, which was thronged, so I only stopped to use the loos and carried on homeward bound via Wensley and Middleham/Masham again

So, how did I fare?

100 miles covered

My road riding was pretty rusty and I was overtaken by at least 10 bikes:augie

There were some stupid car drivers about, with little consideration for bikers (C'est la vie)

I realised I had little appetite for road riding, for the sake of it and found it pretty boring - hope that improves and my mo-jo returns with a few more miles (off to Scotland over Easter)

Nice picci's,nice bike,nice day,
Who care's who passes who,as long as YOU had a nice day out, that is all that matter's.

Yep, it's pretty boring by comparison isn't it:thumb

We did 100 miles on trail bikes yesterday, saw the hundreds of roads bikes filing into the Ponderosa like sheep and both realised that scene has no hold over us.

I used the GS all winter but it's been sorned for the past month, will get it MoT'd today as I have a 600 mile return ride to Devon from north Wales for a funeral later this week, I'm hoping a route through the middle of Wales will spark something.:nenau

Nice roads up there JB.:thumb I was up there last summer, and can't wait to get a few days off and head back up.:beerjug:

Nice photos JB.
Yep, just going out for a ride doesn't really do anything for me these days.
Going into Taunton yesterday evening the last of the 'sunday road riders' passed me in the car.
I guess they were doing somewhere around twice the speed limit going down the Milverton bypass (60mph).

I'm sort of sitting on the fence :)

I simply wouldn't jump on my bike and ride the clasic bikers roads round here any more. Bored of that now. Since getting my GSA (two years ago now) I have fallen in love with nadgery mucky b roads. A bimble or a hoon for me now is twisty back lanes where a car is rare let alone another bike.

Having said all that .. I am being drawn more and more to off roading, and when I do get out i just love it. Pennies won't allow a little KTM at the moment but I'm sure it won't be long ... :thumb

With any luck the lorry drivers will blockade the M25 soon and you'll have plenty of overtime, then get yourself up here with it:thumb

Denise and I had a bimble "just for the sake of it" on Saturday (that, and she had childcare :D) around Llangollywotsit. Not as many bikes out as we expected given the weather. We had an enjoyable few hours. :thumb

yes - not exactly practical for jumping on and off byways.
I was at an enduro event yesterday, most of the bikes pitched up in a van and would never see the road in their life.

Realistically I need something road legal ... :thumb2

Saw this 1970's 430XC Husky (mucho hairy & lairy beastie) at a H&H and it was bloody lovely and here's another pic of the old and new Huskies:clap

Nice

Lovely pics, who needs the south of France eh? Dunno if I'd get bored riding roads like that. Definitely found my mojo again today after only using the bike two or three times since last summer. Planning to make up for lost time though....so many roads so little time. Might get an XT660R or something for off-road stuff too.

Say hullo to Scotland for me :D
