hello GS-ers, - not sure if this is the right section for this but here goes. I am new here and posting as I took my first ride on a GS1200 yesterday; a test ride as thinking of buying in to the GS thing. I rode a R1200S, R1100s (wanted a comparison) and then the GS. First thoughts on the GS; it's a big soft arm chair, and how the hell do you work out what the front wheel is doing? The front wheel feels somewhat detached from the rider, - but then the second thoughts are; this thing does handle well, suspension is soft front and rear but it does the job, so who cares about knowing exactly what the front is at. You have to plan where and what you are doing before you do it, but plan and execute right and it is satisfying, certainly is on country lanes. I love the 1200 engine, - (1100 runs out of puff and too vibey), but the BIG problem is the screen and the buffeting received to your head, - it is such a great all-round bike, - but that screen, how could they have got it sooo wrong? Or is it just me?

I had problem with screen ... then adjusted it to half way instead of fully up ... seems to sort problem

:thumb Screens, now theres a can of worms  There`s everything from folk taking them off to attaching what seems to be a patio door to the bike & everything in between :eek
I have a cut down standard screen with tobinators on mine FWIW

I had the same problem with the screen on my first GS ride - must be a common problem for those of us who sit tall in the saddle! Talking of saddles I didn't like the standard one on my first ride either. I fancy a Corbin one c/w back rest.

thanks guys

Thank you for taking the time to reply people.

Screen was in the mid position, - I am 5.10" sit fairly upright I guess, - but I think the problem was the turbulence coming around the side of the screen, - I see the Adventure has a couple of extra mini screen's either side of the main one?? Well glad to know that there appears to be a solution even if the get out clause of the Nippy Normans website does concern me a bit, - but hey, what's life without a risk or two??

and Wolfe that saddle was pure luxury to me, - years of riding Ducati's must toughen ones backside! :)
