Took my recently acquired R100GS out on Sunday , first chance for a long run on a dry day. Lady in the garage couldn't believe it was possible to get £45 of petrol in a bike !

In common with others I need to do something to make the rear brake pedal accessible when wearing off road boots , and get some wider pegs. Saw the pivot pegz in TBM and read reviews here on oil head models , anyone tried them on an airhead? Had the overland solutions pegs on my last bike which worked fine but wondered if the pivot makes it easier to operate brake and gear lever

Pivot pegs are expensive and not much benifit on a soft roader.

A piece of 6mm aluminium checker plate bolted to the pedal and shaped so that it ends up under your toe and out from under the carb works just as well, and will cost 2% of the price of pivot pegs.

I think Touratech sell a checker plate extender , so you will be able to get an idea of the size needed from their site, and I think it has been covered here too , so try a search on brake pedal or similar

+1 for the brake peddle extender. They give you much more to get your foot on.

Another option is to lower your foot pegs. There are various ways to do this with various price brackets. Though be warned most of the aftermarket lowered peg will necessitate the purchase of a shortened gear shift leaver, which raises the price (a lot!).

I went for the cheapest option, which is the 'cut-n-shut' method.:augie Basically we simply cut the pegs off the pivot and added a plate to lower them vertically and welded the peg back on again, but an inch or so lower.

The end result is a set of pegs that are lower, without needing to modify the gear shift or the brake peddle. It also has the effect of raising the brake peddle up to a position where it's easy to reach when standing up on the pegs. And adds to the riders comfort too :D

Job done, bunged the guy a Twenty for his time. :thumb2
