you kneel when you enter my auld hallowed grund my man:rob

Do you come from there, then arc? Really nice wee village. For some reason, I think it looks very "English". I think it's the church style of architecture

I was up picking up dogfood from Black's Farm. They hae loads of Shire horses there. Fantastic beasts. Incredibly powerful and yet really gentle mannered. :thumb2

So it was icy

Dropped daughter in Glasgow 09:30 after a rush and no time to check the internet.

Off to Paisley to get the bike out of the warehouse. The street and yard are sheet ice:eek:

Car in warehouse doors locked, walk to bike and can barely lift it off the side stand it's so slippery. Once I'm on it's OK as long as I don't let terror overcome me.:o

Once onto the salted roads all is OK. Fuel at Shell on the Renfrew Road and en route to BoCally by 10:30.

Decide to stick to the main roads and just cruise, slow and steady at 80 on the motorway. Low cloud becomes heavy mist north of Stirling and then gets worse north of Dunblane. Then as I start to climb to Perth it becomes bright sunshine and the day seems so much better.

At Dunkeld its a right onto the A923 and things start to get interesting. Water running off the hills has left a variety of natural hazards in the form of ice and slush but it's still sunny:)

At Blairgowrie it's a left onto the A93 and go north young man, (I've forgotten all my birthdays after 27) arriving at Bridge of Cally Hotel at around 12:15. :) What, no other bikes:nenau. Ah well I am early.

I could say that the first two images reflect my mood but I had just forgotten to switch the camera from flourescent ligh mode:o

Into the hotel and someone is ordering hot chocolate:thumb Make that two please barman.

A good lunch, chat with some of the staff and locals. Find out that the ski centre have just shut the gates as all car parks are full and they estimate 10,000 people up there on the slopes!

By 13:00hrs I realise this has been the equivalent of a club meeting and so I decide to make a move and maybe take a few pictures on the way back, camera phone isn't too bad.

On the escarpment south of Perth and that's fog in the valley. Any guesses for the diversion I took looking for images. All this from the possibly the worlds most inept photographer:blast

Back on the main drag home and huge tailback from the roadworks on the A80 but home in one piece at the back of 16:00hrs.

New muffs are a big improvement on the old Oxford ones. I rode all day in summer gloves and even switched off the heated grips a couple of times as my palms were getting too hot:bounce1

In the order the images should appear

1 What I'm riding into

2 The sun is good

3 What I'm leaving behind

4 Food for the soul

I had a great day, I hope you enjoyed your books, walks etc.:P

A large Auchentoshan is almost ready for replenishing:101 (wrong colour but it's the closest I could find)

'Do you come from there, then arc?'

Stayed there for about 15 years Ronno.
I looked after and cleaned/opened the kirk and village hall.
Went roond the village in the winter and scraped the sna' aff the auld anes paths etc.
Oor hoos wiz the wan right across frae the kirk gates. Had an old home guard pillbox as a garden shed. Aye the village turned very 'little englandershire' after the ferm got selt.
The hoos we had was originally owned by the blacks.
Loved the place. Could stand at front door and look east to Hawklaw abin Cupar and sweep uninterrupted right round tae the Dollar hills, magic and wave tae the trains too.
Then we left .....................:tears

Packer, it's folk like you that gie mentalists a bad name! :thumb

The Auchentoshan. Was it an Alchemist edition? I saw a bottle of that in Royal Mile Whiskies last week. I thought that it was only Highland Park and The Macallan that they did?

'even switched off the heated grips a couple of times as my palms were getting too ho

I believe it is possible for the grips to burn out if used for long without some airflow. 'spose i'll get shot doon ,but, whit the hell,eh.............:rob

Fixed it for you Ronno, and yes it is an Alchemist bottling. Casks of HP and Macca are v.difficult to get hold of so they are offering a wider range.

Oops nearly time for the next top up:D

I had a feckin great day on the road today.....

Spent ages scraping ice of off the van windscreen while Fruitcake faffed about throwing various bags into the back.
We set off for a lovely drive in the frosty weather to Glasgow- the Arrochar Alps looked stunning with their snow capped peaks glinting in the bright sunshine. We were both glad to be in the warmth of the van and now slithering about on a bike.

A wee detour through Renfrew so Fruitcake could get her leg over a few Kawasakis, then on through Breahead and into a nice hotel for the night.

Plan 'A' was for me to drop the van off at the dealers to fix the drive shaft, then out for a night on the tiles before we went off to work in the morning. Me to Denmark and Fruitcake to the 'Snecky.

Only Fanny baws discovered he'd left his fecking passport at home..........so instead of a nice night out in the big city the Choob spent another 5 hours driving a dodgy van with one headlight over icy roads feeling like the total numpty he is -ever mile of the road.

Arse.:blast
