In a Remote area apparently.
What would you expect to pay for a first service on a GSA from a BM Dealer and an indy garage who specializes in BM. ? Search found fuck all before the usual cnuts start their shite. Genuine question. :augie :nenau

If it was the same dealer I'd recently bought the bike from I'd expect the first service for nothing. Otherwise, maybe £100 - £150 (I'm guessing as I don't know the actual figures, but for what is involved I think it's about right).

Mine was consumables only....which would have been fine if they had used normal oil....however mine used a rare elixir of hummingbird spit and the sweat of virgins.....extremely rare...not much of it about and f#ckin expensive. Total cost was £82...£56 of which was the oil....learned my lesson and will go to an indi next time.

Interesting turn of phrase when you're asking for people's help.

assuming you mean the running in service at 800 or so miles , no idea, however an annual or 6k mile service you wont get change from £300 from a dealer.

800 service on gsa.

Mine cost £100 at bmw which i understand is fairly cheap, can run to £180 depending on your dealer (yes there was a thread but i cant find it either!)

So mine was £100 - standard fee at Wollastons for the Hex Head. I guess if you took your own filter/oil then just the labour and oil removal.

Ive been quoted £99, and that includes a diff oil change (this indy guy changes the diff oil EVERY service) he also checks the throttle bodies and all other electronic settings at the same time, FOC.

Jeez - it's a 16 grand bike - take it to the BMW dealer that you bought it from and pay their bill (faith? trust? goodwill? customer relations?)

If we don't support our dealers there will be no dealers left to buy bikes from (or service them)

Season's Greetings everyone.

I hope 2014 is a great year for you

Ride safe

Phil

Just booked mine in at Rainbow. Standard price £140 but they're offering £50 off all services until the end of January so it's going to cost me £90.
Happy enough with that.

I have too travel 120 miles to my nearest dealer meaning a day off work plus the fuel costs. Ohh BTW I didnt buy the bike from them because they didnt bother their arse to get back to me when I asked them to supply a new bike, so why would I support them ? They didnt help me when I was looking for a bike.

OK - apologies, I did rather jump to conclusions. I am, of course, influenced by the superb high quality service I receive from Vines.

In your situation you have to seek out a dealer that you have faith in and try and have a "while you wait" service. Certainly most BMW dealers have their service departments open on a Saturday morning so it becomes a "destination dealer" where it's a morning's fun - a ride out and possibly a test ride on something interesting while they service yours. It's worth going the extra mile for a decent service department. My personal view is that I have my vehicles serviced by main agents and always with OEM parts. When things go pear shaped a decent dealer will resolve the issue and they are SO important in warranty, and indeed out of warranty, claims.

Factory training, tooling, software are all important to me. It is just my opinion but I have been around BMW bikes since 1992, I have owned many, new and used, and currently own a 92 R100, a 2103 GSA Triple Black and a depend very heavily on having an operational C1 - my experience of BMW service departments is vast. If I did not have a reliable dealer available to me I would probably switch brand to one that can be supported reasonably locally.

I do feel for you, I've had many bad times over the years - I genuinely hope you can find a solution

Merry Christmas

Same to you. Thats the problem up here, we are miles and miles away from the main dealers, i wouldn't use the one in Inverness 35 miles away because ive heard several horror stories about them, the Aberdeen one doesn't do bikes anymore, so its Dundee the dealership that didn't want my money that is my nearest. A guy that used to have a place in North Wales has set up just a few miles from me and his operation looks the dogs danglies, he gave me a guided tour on Saturday and i was impressed. He used nothing but Castrol oil and oem filters etc. He also FOC changes the diff oil every service regardless and he checks the throttle bodies and TPS etc everytime so id say he is pretty thorough wouldnt you ? There is no requirement to use main stealers for servicing as you know as long as OEM filters etc are used so i think given the time and distance id have to travel i will give him a go.
