Well Saturdays recce was a bit eventful but I got through it.
The Sally Gap road is still firmly closed & I wouldn't be confident that it'll be much better by next Saturday
Heading up from Kilkee :
There's a car-sized gap at the side of the barrier & while I was stopped at the bottom a car came down so I thought I'd have a looksee.
Unfortunately about a mile later it became apparent that it still wasn't open for PTW's :
So, discretion being the better part of valour, I set off back down the hill to go around, rather than over, to Laragh.
There's still ice on the Blessington Lakes :
I'm redoing the route to bring us over the Wicklow gap instead cos it's in much better shape

:
After that the road inproved considerably (for a while !).
A good flow under the bridge at Aughrim :
Most of the smaller, less travelled, R & local roads are badly damaged by the Christmas snow / ice & now by the snowmelt & heavy rain on Friday.
There's lots of these (and much worse) about :
The Slaney at Bunclody is doing a very passable impression of a lake :
It was a nice dry run down & eventually I arrived in Kilmore Quay in scorching January sunshine :
I stopped here :
And had some of these. And gorgeous they were too

:
I only had chips cos (a) I didn't want to spoil it for next week & (b) when I stopped for a cuppa in Bunclody there was a lovely apple crumble which just happened to have my name on it

So I ended up with no room for Beer Battered Haddock
Full details of timings etc as soon as I've 'corrected' the route
