I bought my 1150gs with a y piece & standard can fitted & to be honest was a bit disapointed with the performance. So after reading some posts on the forum about fitting a stubby i bit the bullet & bought a 2nd hand cat converter & a piece of scrap exhaust pipe from a local exhaust manufacturer. I fitted the cat & made myself a stubby from the scrap pipe, took about an hour all in. & Fcuk me what a difference!! It now pulls like a train & runs a hell of alot better. If your swithering over whether to do this mod yourself just do it.

i did, then cut the cat to bits, (better), then refitted the y piece and remus and sold the cat and stubby, remus seemed to have the edge on mine

Plus you can fit a full size pannier on the left now..

Motorworks sell replacement pannier backs (you fit your original lid) for just over £60..
A bit of modification is required to the locating lug coming off the left hand footrest.

That sounds ideal,I'll look into that. Thanks Sleepy.

Alternative is get in touch with "redcap" on this forum about ARD cases.

My bike is an 1150GSA in black but I dont like the yellow so I took off the yellow tank stickers, got my seat re-covered by a chap in Newport, and have now fitted stubby and cat painted black. My old system panniers I will flog as Redcap made me some gorgeous aluminium panniers (ARD cases) which have been powder coated black. I have a spare set of Touratech panniers and the Redcap ones are easily as good (and price meant I stayed in my missus's good books :thumb ). The obvious bonus is that these new ARD cases are both full size.

I have a local chap modifying the TT racks for the new panniers so that the left side rack matches the right side.

All I need to do now is blacken the rocker covers and wheels

Will post pics once I'm done!
