A job I've looked forward to for a very long time - got a y piece off a very friendly helpful Gser this week...

Polished it up fitted it, together with my original Laser can...

JEEEEESUS how loud?

I think I might need to put back the OE can to calm it down a bit.

Anyone else experienced crazy volume issues when losing the cat? :blast

If I was a hooligan I would love it.

Exactly what were you expecting?

I used to have a 'y' piece and Carbon Can, it was VERY loud, to the point it became tiring even to me with earplugs in ...

Decided on a different route eventually...:thumb

excellent - two same responses, sounds like a plan! :thumb

i'll drop a note back on here to let you know how it goes... hoepfully better for my ears. :comfort

Make that three. I had the same set up until I got matching panniers & had to revert to cat & ditch the can for a stubby.

Oh and I too was surprised at how fekking loud the Y Piece with an aftermarket can (Akrap) was. Other than risking potential deafness I also started to ride like a tit.

Takes me back to when I had an 1150, fitted mine with Y piece and Remus can. Great fun only problem was melting number plates and mount. Had to rig up deflector from some sheet metal. Other than that the oerformance was greatly improved. Loud pipes save lives a friendly plod once told me.

Y piece and standard can did burn a hole in my plastic panniers once, trouble is all the bikes seem to run different / have different airflows around the bike so it's pot luck if you have a combination that doesn't melt things. But there are ways around the problem.

I got a lump of mandrelled chromed pipe, whacked the end around with a Birmingham spanner until it was oval enough to fit up the Remus' arse, boshed it home with a rubber mallet and then pop-rivetted it in place :thumb2

Went from silly to sensible in half an hour :thumb2

Sorted out all that heat and melting nonsense too :rob

well ive had to go to y piece and standard can back on
the y piece with laser can should have come with a health warning :D
ears still ringing from only 20 mins on bike!

all done today - off to hartside tomorrow
wont sound and or ride like a tit tomorrow

:thumb2

(shame though)

ANDDDDDD its FIXED

thats what it should be like

y piece and std can. Happy days.

An i can still hear,,,, hartside and back, no worries, just the wiring to get right now.

STEPTOE!! :D

that means trhe wiring needs sorting where you would normally use a WMB cat code plug?
i need to do mine - wish i could find the right combo of terminals...
