hello everybody
i've got an ADV but it's got the standard gearbox(high1st+6th)i'm thinking about fitting a diff off an 850 to lower the gearing for off road etc, have any of you guy's done this mod?and what was the bike like on the road?

thank's......loz

Check out the ADV website (i presume you have already searched this one).
Search on R850GS.On one of the threads about changing gearing, one of the blokes has done just that.
I would like to have included the link, but we would all die of old age waiting. :o

when i fitted the 850 bevel box,i removed the 33/11 box ok but the uj joint did not come off with it,not having done this mod before i just gave it a bit of a pull(nudge nudge)just to see and it did not move,i did not think anything of it at the time, less to put back together, since then after mentioning it to a couple of guy's they think i should strip it again and remove the uj and grease it,would it be normal for the uj to stay on the driveshaft and how hard should it be to remove it?

thank's in advance......loz

BTW the gearing is now about 85@5k rpm in top,1st 2nd ect are real nice on and offroad

Couple tyre levers each side of the U/J, and a hefty whack usually removes it.

Having ridden Loz's bike with the 850 final drive fitted, I'd recommend it to anyone wanting lower gearing. Took it for a spin & managed a 3rd gear downhill wheelie with not too much effort or throttle.

Mind you, that's with with my pantherlike physique, not sure it Loz & his lardy carcass could manage it.... :hide

With the 850 bevel fitted to an 1150, Keep an eye on your drive shaft.

My friend has gone through two since fitting his 850 bevel - Mind you, he's always pulling wheelies . Plus he's a despatch rider, which means 1st away from the lights everytime - .
