Evening all,

This weekend coming I shall be fitting an Autocom 300 Super Pro AVI kit to my 1999 R1150GS.

Any hints, tips or other such related helpfulness?

Cheers

Yes indeed I have!

Does your bike have alarm? It it doesn't the best place to put it is on top of the air box.

Does your bake have ABS? If it doesn't, that's a possible place to place the autocom.

I connected the autocom directly to one of the fuses (the last one if i am not mistaken - check on advrider website too.

Which GPS do you have?

Ah... you may be spending more money on the leads than on the electronics itselft :rob

Good luck!

No alarm, but have an extra socket mounted on top of the airbox.

No it doesn't. i keep a pile of spares in there. It might well fit nicely once the setup is done.

Ta. Did you solder the connection or did you just crimp it?

I never listen to a GPS ;) But it's a 276c (I also have a Quest).

i spent £50 on the leads for the bike-to-bike intercoms today. Mind you they fitted the headset to my C2 for a tenner, which is good value IMO.

Good luck!
Ta :)

I just did this over the last few weeks...just some tidying up left to do.

I bought a "Fuzeblock FZ-1" which gets wired directly to the +/- of the battery and used a piggyback fuse on the horn fuse to connect a wire for the switched power relay. The FZ-1 is installed in the empty ABS space. The autocom gets wired to the FZ-1 so that it only comes on when the ignition is switched on. I've also wired the GPS (2820) power and heated gear plug into the FZ-1 as well.

The Autocom is installed aft of the bike's fuse box (tool pouch had to be removed) for easy access to adjust volume and VOX. My MP3 player and BT dongle is there as well.

Works pretty good even with earplugs in, and yes, you will spend a lot more on the leads depending on what you be connecting to the Autocom.

Hadn't thought of that. Hmmm.

Is that for initial setup or do you anticipate adjusting those often?

Excellent news :)

Fortunately we seem now to have a full complement of leads.
