Fitting Autocom Into Shoei Multitec?

That really helpful wapping thanks for that :thumb

I havn't had chance to read your last long text comments as it's late but will post tomorrow what with LOST on TV tonight and my other posts regarding brake issue on my other bike I've been very busy!

the mics by themselves only retail for £15 each btw

Thanks GSrich. The autocom system already came with a mic and speakers but I thought I would have to buy a different mic than the one supplied because of the open face type helmet I'm considering buy? Is this true?

Is it true that the boom mic doesn't work with the Multitec?

Well, yes, of course it is true.

That's why I spent some time detailing all the above (and photographs) telling you that the Autocom earpieces and boom mike did work (albeit it's depth created a slight problem with the front popper of the cheek pad).

So, now having found out the price for something you have already bought, and found out (again) that it will all work, all you have to do is decide whether or not to buy a Shoei Multitec and whether or not it will be comfortable on your noddle and its accompanying wing nuts. That is something only you can decide.

Then, if and when you have bought the helmet, install the whole lot in (a task you can manage, you say) and then find someone or something to talk to through the microphone.....

PS You are not buying an open face helmet....It's a flip front. Of course you can ride around all day with it open but that might rather defeat the object and lead to excessive wind noise and neck ache....

Actually I have a question for GSRich!! :rob

does the type B mic/headset with the extra noise cancelling sensor thingy work with the Active Plus unit (as in the kit 200)?

Kit 200 comes with the type A mic/headset without the noise cancelling widget.

I have a Kit 300 unit on my big bike and a Active plus unit on my small bike. But I only have the Kit 300 stylee mic/headset in my multitec.

Will it work or will it treat it like a second mic (the noise cancelling widget)?

Don't shout out in class!

Put your hand up and ask nicely.

Send him a PM.

:D;)

What keywords do you use to search such photos??

Whatever it is I want a picture of.

Chinese schoolchildren

Chinese schoolroom

Fortunately Google images does not turn up any pictures that might mean me spending about two years without a clear view of the sky. Then it's just a question of getting a picture of the right size or cropping / manipulating one to suit, without spoiling the joke. It's very easy and does not require any special software. I must confess I did once blow a map up to a huge size to emphasise to some idiot or another what it is he needed to go on holiday and / or the size of France.

For the kid's coats, I think I asked for: School coat hooks or maybe school coat rack, something like that anyway.

Sometimes I put + / - in to narrow the search or other bits of code (I think it's called) to help cut through the tat if there are, say, 10,000,000 pictures of Beijing and schools coming up.

The Henry Moore sculpture in the post above came up as a bit of pot luck. I had asked for 'ill fitting helmet' or something along those lines. I simply thought old Henry had summed it all up (not just the helmet problem) rather well.

Our std boom mics are fully universal and fit in all helmets as in full face, flip front or open face. All that is needed for the open face helmets is a Part 1198 £2 which is an open face conversion kit which gives the mics a lot more protection from the wind.

Indecisive if you use yuor type B headset on your Active the BGNS sensor will become a live mic making the system unuseable due to the extra sound runnnig into your helmet. So you would need to unplug the BGNS when using your headset on yuor Active

It was that I was thinking about :D

Would have been funny if you get a knock on the door from the Old Bill :D

Looks interesting! Just did a price check and found this website. Can you clarify whether this is the price for the helmet AND the intercom and speakers? Would this replace my Autocom duo 300 then?

You can also opt for the bluetooth option from BMW.

Retro fit to any system 5 helmets.

System 5 are on sale at £200 a pop. Bluetooth is about £250 I think.

Then you don't need autocom at all.

I had feared as much. As that was causing the problem when I bought the bike round. It was plugged into the passenger socket so like the active plus rider socket :(

Are you looking at a different helmet? Mike's link is to the new Nolan N-103. You seem to be looking at the old N102.

Price? Blind Bambi.

However, if this simple to find website is anything to go by (it's a marvellous and easy to use invention, Google) http://www.ultimatebikegear.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=255 the Bluetooth gizzmo is extra.

Why? I guess because it says: N-Com ready & supports A2DP Bluetooth in STEREO (mid MARCH)

I translate 'ready' as meaning it's ready for the N-Com bits to be added in the little pod.

But there again, I'm not the man from Nolan.
