Anyone fitted full system on 17 bike

Any gains?
Remap?
Worth the money?

Fitting mine this weekend.
Remap booked for 22nd April.
I don't expect much in the way of headline bhp increases but it should smooth out the fuelling. Little bit if power/torque increase would be nice

See you there (Hilltop) :thumb

I've got a full Akrapovic system on my 2016 GS and the difference is fantastic. Doesn't need a remap, the ECU sorts itself out without it - that's from BMW themselves.

You get about 8-10bhp increase and it really smoothed out the middle power delivery.

I did a review here if you fancy watching it:

You don't HAVE to get your bike remapped but is vast improvement if you do.

8-10bhp gain, No chance, smoother ,yes a bit, and more noise. My last two GS's('14, 99 bhp and '17, 102bhp) with a full system prior to setup.

The ECU will take care of it, how?, its not right to start with.

I should have said in my previous post, gains?, yes, only with the remap.
The most effective thing to do is the remap on its own, the rest is icing on the cake.

To be fair I have an akra slip on and when I got my bike Hilltopped I asked if I would need to come back after I got some de cat akra headers and Geoff said no, the ECU would auto adjust and not to bother.

From the Akrapovic site itself, with just the slip on it's about 4bhp gain, same with the headers.

Not sure why you're only getting 102bhp with full system, it's 125bhp stock?

That's what BMW would like you to believe, crank Hp a little optimistic ! They all making roughly around 100 @ wheel before mapping.

The Full akro does boom, short trips it's brill but after a long stint thro France I felt destroyed, even wearing ear plugs the akro was too loud, seeing a stock bike mapped 115 @ I'm not so sure I would go down the same path with a full zorst and so mainly stick to end can with baffle and re-map now.

A GS LC makes around 95 - 100 before a remap as Ding-Dong says. I read somewhere that the shaft drive system will knock around 20% off, with a chain drive much less. I know that a mapped full Akra bike makes around 120 at the wheel and feels much better. Figures don't tell the story however as I remember that a KTM1190 was around mid 120's stock and high 130's mapped - and they feel much quicker in comparison.

As Fittipaldi once said, if you can't go fast with 100hp, you'll never be fast with 1000hp. :)

Best advantages of an Akra is the noise. If you don't like the noise, I really wouldn't bother with it at all. Headers are a waste of money imho on a bike like the GS. Remap the standard pipes to gain smoothness and better fueling throughout the rev range. Chasing fractional power on a bike like the GS through expensive headers is of no value.

In most cases it is around 100bhp at the rear wheel.

Interesting to read that, having come from a Sportsbike background I've been really impressed by my GS with the full system, feels totally different to the stock one, I love it.

Most of us on here come from a sportsbike background and quite a few have raced, getting a GS is just one of the signs of ageing.
If you are impressed with your GS as it is, fine, a properly set up one will impress you more, a lot more. Find someone with a hilltopped one, try it, and see for yourself.

Nice one, cheers for the heads up, I'll have a look at that for sure
