Thought I’d share this in case anyone is considering it because I didn’t think the fit of my Shoei Neotec 3 could be improved but I was wrong.
I had mine done at the Shoei Gallery store in Birmingham as I happened to be in the area for work reasons, so booked a Personal Fitting Experience (PFE) with Ben. Despite me arriving late, Ben and the whole team were incredibly welcoming.

After taking detailed measurements, Ben made a series of adjustments to the helmet liner, refining it step by step until it felt superb all round. The PFE goes far beyond any previous fitting experience I’ve had at other well‑known helmet retailers. Throughout the process, Ben clearly explained what he was trying to achieve and why each change was being made, which made the whole experience even better.

It was absolutely worth the fee, and Ben also fitted the Sena SRL I purchased in store as well. The shop itself is excellent, with the full Shoei range on display, including some fantastic graphics I’d never seen before, a huge range of visors, intercom systems, and clothing.

If you get the chance I’d definitely recommend it and I’m definitely buying my next Neotec from the store when it’s released.

Agreed. Had my Neotec 3 done at Motolegends and it was free .

Had the wife’s done in Munich a couple of years ago, got it free as we were both getting new lids, excellent service (y)

Didn't work for me at motolegends, but I realise I seem to be a minority, the perfect fit was way too high on my head and didn't allow my glasses to fit but hey ho a medium arai fits perfectly out of the box.

Different head shapes, you’ve got an Arai shaped head, I didn’t need the fitting service as the Shoei fit me perfectly out of the box

Had my Neo 3 done at Motolegends too. Great experience, although I went back a week later and they fine tuned it for me as I wasn't entirely happy with the fit. Super comfy helmet.

Cold weather tends to see me wear a Gore Windstopper balaclava under my helmet until the the warmer weather arrives. Helmet feels slightly loose now without a balaclava so I now wear a thin Coolmax helmet liner.
How does the PFS fitting work with the need to wear a balaclava for 4/5 months of the year?
Do people have different helmets for summer and winter use?

same. I bought mine a year ago but I cant get there too easily. The fit gives me a real pain on my ear on the first day of riding so I need them to adjust it. Will try to get over June time with the car and get it fixed.

Always advisable to make a booking - ask me how I know! I like the place but I think they make themselves a little inaccessible to customers. Seems to work as a business model though, there are always folk in the shop.

That Aria or Shoei shaped head thing is a bit of a myth. It used to be true but hasn't been for some time. I find both comfortable, especially the Arai, but wear a Shoei as I prefer the drop down visor and the better venting. Shark and HJC are uncomfortable for me.

Helmet City in West Bay (and other branches) do the fitting service free of charge too. If you buy the comms with it it should be VAT free as it becomes part of the safety equipment. VAT should only be charged when comms are sold separately.

Visited Shoei Birmingham (longbridge) this afternoon for a PFS, excellent service with nothing too much trouble.

Helmet is certainly a snug fit now but that’s to allow for foam compression as it ages.

Ben kindly swapped by SRL 2 intercom over and that saved me a load of hassle fighting the helmet on the kitchen table.

Well recommend.

Hi DS,
Thank you for the kind write up on SHOEI Gallery Birmingham. It was a pleasure fitting you out, and it’s great to hear that the PFS has worked well for you.

To answer some of the questions from some users:
  • A PFS fitting is free of charge when purchasing a helmet from SHOEI Gallery Birmingham.
  • If you already own an additional helmet and would like a PFS fitting, we offer this service for £37.50.
  • If you book an appointment for a PFS fitting on an existing helmet, the fee is £50.
Booking an appointment is not essential, but it certainly helps us manage the day more effectively. We’re always happy to accommodate walk-ins, provided customers are willing to wait if someone else is already being fitted.

We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and always aim to deliver the best possible experience as brand ambassadors and experts for SHOEI helmets.

We also stock SPADA motorcycle clothing upstairs, which offers just as enjoyable an experience as the SHOEI Gallery itself. This boutique-style brand is moving in a fantastic direction, with stylish gear that looks just as good off the bike as it does on it, truly “bike to life.”

Lastly, you can park safely right outside the store, just off the road, as I do myself. And if you’re not looking to buy a helmet right now, that’s absolutely fine too — we always welcome a friendly face for a cuppa and a chat.
Hope to see you all soon.

Ben

Hi Leadfarmer,
I’m intrigued to know which shop in Munich provided this service. Germany currently doesn’t have any PFS trained SHOEI stores, so I’d be interested to know if you happen to remember the name of the dealership.

Outside of Japan, there are currently only three dedicated SHOEI Gallery stores in Europe that provide the PFS service:
  1. Birmingham, UK
  2. Paris, France
  3. Barcelona, Spain
In addition to this, we have trained several dealerships across the UK to provide the PFS service, ensuring consistency and maintaining the high standards expected from the SHOEI brand.

Best regards,

Ben

I found the shop from the Shoei Europe website, it lists several for PFS in Germany

Ah, that will be dealerships that sell Shoei Helmets that have been PFS trained. My apologies I misunderstood, I thought you was referring to a Shoei Gallery Store.

Makes sense as the trainer from Shoei Japan for Europe actually lives in Germany. 👍
