Fitting Remus Headers to 2008 BMW R1200GS

Nigel
How come there isn't a pipe linking the 2 together.
You now have 2 seperate pipes. Is this a performance thing?

Nice blog, am going to fit a set of headers & end can to my GS tomorrow.
Any info on the torque settings for the bolts on the headers & various fixings ?

No linky (balance) pipe on the Remus headers, although some other makes have them:confused:. I don't know what the benefits/disadvantages are, but my bike absolutely flies with the Remus headers and Akra can.

The Bmw has been transformed bythe Remus Headers.

Went out today for the firsttine withthe Remus headers fitted. It has completely transformed the BMW. It sounds so sporty, but most importantly it pulls like a tractor from lower revs....It just goes and on the closed throttle it does not pop, fart and backfire like it used to do...

Should have fitted one years ago, now do I go for more mods.....Different tyres perhaps....

Cheers for the torque info, should make tomorrows fit much quicker.

Cheers guys

:)

I've had Remus headers and a Remus can on it since I bought it. I love the pops and bangs on the over-run. You mean they don't all pull and go like that as standard ? :D

I had to pursuade mine to undo with the 22mm spanner and rubber hammer. Very gently.

When you have fitted the system......Let me know how you think it performs after.

You may want to get a set of exhaust gaskets when you change the headers. Technically, they are a one use item. When I fit the Keihans, I always put new gaskets on:thumb

Thanks for the tips, heading out to the garage now, will post up later how it all went , fingers crossed

I have a non-link pipe version as well, they seemed to give a small gain to the bottom end.

For your next mod maybe try an accelerator module, they seem to smooth out the low down a bit more and hopefully help stop the bike running way too lean.

I find these little mods add up on the GS, also got a quick action throttle, overall the bike feels far more tractable through bottom end and midrange on "normal" throttle openings, doubt it has gained any power up top and probably no more than a few percent down low but it just feels a lot nicer.

Well , I have to report that this afternoon was not a success.
Not sure , but the headers & end can didn't fit, so looks like its destined for ebay.
Think that the Remus headers & end can are for an older model of GS.

So back to the drawing board, will have to sell this set of headers & end can then look if I can find a set of headers & can to fit an 09 GS

What a bummer.

Are you sure you have genuine Remus headers? They should look like this, with the O2 sensors located on the riser of the pipes.

The Remus from my old 04 GS fitted straight on to my current 09 GSA perfectly:confused:
