Fitting the exhausts to R90s

I'm just about to attach the exhaust the bike and I've been looking at the exhaust rings. Presumably they only need cleaning as they are steel. I am assuming they can be reused as it seems the internally tapered ring allows the spring tapered ring to fit into it under compression from the exhaust nut. Also should I just use copper slip on each of the meeting surfaces, including the tapers.

Yes, re-use them.
I use copperslip and just crack them open once a year, never failed me yet
