I've made an adapter plate to fit a Vario top box to the GS Adventure.
I can't live without a top box, and whilst waiting for BMW to get their ar*e in gear and deliver one for the Adventure, I've had to make something - works a treat. Thought I'd share it on this forum. Pix below.
This uses existing mountings on the Adventure - no holes drilled on the bike. I used 2 lengths of 6mm thick 100mm x 100mm aluminum angle and held it together with a 4mm thick aluminium plate, M6 bolts & Nyloc nuts. Used a disc grinder to shape it, and bolted a BMW Vario mounting plate bolted to it to finish. Held onto bike with 4 x M6 nolts & nyloc nuts.
Aluminium cost £20 cash, and BMW plate was £18.
OK - so it ain't exactly pretty, but hopefully its temporary.
