Had this replaced in November while still under warranty!
Just didn't sound sure that it wanted to open, more of a whimper than a thud, and on a couple of occasions there was a beeping coming from the vicinity?
Anyhow, I washed it a week ago & put it away. Turn the key today & the beeping started again.
When I started it up, steam and water escaped from the connection point in the zorst next to the valve.
I normally run a bike for a minute or so after washing BUT did not on this occasion.
Seems to me that the problem with these exhaust valves seizing is caused by standing water?

Everything fine again now by the way! :thumb2

Common failure - mine is on its second warranty replacement already. This one is going the same way now as I almost always have to power cycle it in the morning to get it moving fully (at first switch-on it makes that feeble beeping sound as the motor struggles to move it through the full range).

What happens if I just disconnect it then?

Mine has started to make the "BEEP" "BEEP" "BEEP" when I first start it up after a couple of days. Does this mean that the butterfly valve is not fully opening and resets itself continuously?

After a short blast it cannot be heard on the start up procedure.

Only done 2k on a 2010 bike on a bike that had only done 4k.

When "at rest" the valve is fully open - held there by the return spring. When you switch on the ignition, the valve is closed and then returned to the open position. I think it fails to fully return to "open" during this power-up cycle, resulting in the servo motor repeatedly trying to move it those last few mm, which is the beeping noise you hear. Eventually it gets worse, to the point that the servo motor cannot move it at all.

My 1200 passed 6k yesterday! The first was replaced under warranty at 4.5k.
Which means the new one has done 1500 miles or so.
After a brief solid "thud" period it became just as lazy as the first, with the inevitable beeping if stood for a week or so.
But like yours it frees up with use. ACF on the outside & keep the exhaust condensation free inside is all you can do really! :thumb2

No its not. Take it off completely and get your friendly fabrication company to make you a stainless link pipe. Will remove this issue, and in my opinion looks an awful lot better.

I agree 'get them off" Replaced my complete system.:)

I've used graphited oil (from ebay) applied to the spindle after the body has been heated.
That is, after the assembly is on the workbench.
Still going ok without drama after 2 months.
