04 1200 GS servo brakes
After filling up yestarday I started up and the fast flashing warning lights would not disappear like they normally do. I called CW (local dealer) but no quick fix available (unsurprisingly).
Rode home with residual braking, but after 2 miles the lights stopped flashing and normal brakes resumed. Happy days. Stopped a further 2 or 3 times to switch off and start to try and reproduce but the problem had gone away.
Called CW again to discuss (past 1700 on Friday - not bad!) and apart from brining it in they suggested having a good look at the looms leading up to the ABS unit. So, tank off, and lo and behold I found an area on the loom where the outer black covering had rubbed through and a few wires exposed. I have a picture of the offending area but can't post it at the moment.
I cleaned the area a bit and re-cable-tied the loom back to the bracket with some off-cuts of mouse-mat as some vibration isolation between the loom and the bracket. Yet to test-ride but hoping for a few more miles yet before a repeat.
I recommend those with similar models check this area.
To find the bit I'm talking about without a picture, find the main connector to the electronic box on the ABS unit and follow its loom until you find the first 2 cable ties. Snip the ties and pull the loom so you can inspect the edge of the loom that was held against the bracket it was tied to. Or PM me or post an email address and I'll sen you a pic.
