flat battery update

Checked the bike. Started fine. Flicked on the Optimate and initial test at start up indicated full charge in battery.
Conclusion don't leave power lead plugged into aux socket when bike is parked up. I will look to get the Sat nav wired into the headstock outlet at sometime in the future. It does beg the question what use is the aux power outlet though

Solution

I know this is an old thread but as there is no final solution, I'll tell it to you.

I bought my 2011 GSA last spring and it came with Garmin Zumo 220 navigator. AUX socket was unplugged, and the guy I bought it from told be it will flatten the battery if connected.
I plugged it back and after a week the battery was dead. I made some measurements and noticed that the CAN-bus will stay ON if the navigators voltage regulator is connected.

The solution is very simple, put a diode (for example 1N5408, will handle 3A) before the regulator. Problem solved... Will cost about 0,5 euros.
