All the bells and whistles on the new TFT but no FM radio?? I know you can stream audio from a phone and that phone can run a radio app which does work... ish. But has anyone found a way to have an fm radio - maybe a pocket one or something, come through the ears in my helmet?

You've answered your own question - use your phone.

If not depending on your set up a Bluetooth helmet kit should work. My Sena has a built in radio but I've never used it, only turned it on by accident.

Sorry - didn't make the point clear... no 3g/4g signal = no data = no radio on phone.
Want a solution that works all the time. Like i get in my van!!

Most phones will use the earphone lead as an aerial so you can use the built in radio independently from your phone network, just like your van.
Whether you can bluetooth that to a helmet headset I don't know. My Interphone headset has a radio built in.

Or a Cardo Packtalk Bold, much better in my humble opinion than the Sena, also fully waterproof not merely shower proof.

Just bought a Packtalk Bold, excellent kit. I can’t understand why Sena can make a piece of kit that fastens to the outside of a crash helmet simply shower and not waterproof.

Iphone's dont have FM radio's (I don't know about android stuff), so a radio on my phone needs an internet connection. DAB doesn't always hold a signal well unless there is a good aerial, hence FM seems more popular on motorcycles.

I use a Cardo helmet unit which has an inbuilt FM radio, but it isn't very good. Best thing I have found is putting loads of music on a small SD card which fits in the satnav. Alternatively I have loads of music on my phone as MP3's, and just play from the phone.

RBW.

Try the Radio Paradise App. You can cache a load of music of varying tastes. If you do it right, no internet connection required when out on the road.

The Cardo freecom4+ also has fm radio, the ariel is the right speaker wire so if you route that wire over the top through the lining forming a loop instead of around the base you get better reception. I use tune in radio app on my iPhone if I'm abroad and want to listen to UK stations, but like someone said before you need 3/4G to receive a signal but most of Europe has that now and I can always fall back on the mp3s on my sdcard or my iTunes.

I use a phone to listen to the radio. But you can also try some portable radios such as FosPower Emergency Solar Hand Crank Portable Radio or Sony ICFP26 Portable AM/FM Radio. they are comfortable enough and you can take them on a trip for example. And the battery lasts longer than on your phone.

+1 I have the same set up.

My favourite trick on 4 wheels - was going to suggest same for a bike.

I don't use music or phone on bike, but this would be my first step.

No. I’ve re read the post, can’t find anything that says he was asking anyone’s opinion on whether it’s safe or not to be listening to a radio while ‘riding spiritually’ so I’m presuming he thinks he’s ok , like millions of others.
