FOR ALL EES STUFF, QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, MOANS, JOYS AND ANYTHING ELSE

that's a very Little Englander, "it's all about us conspiracy" and completely ignores the 100 million non European visitors (i.e. excluding Brits and other non EU/Schengen Europeans) entering the Schengen zone each year. Brits enter about 60 million times a year if you add up every crossing each person does in a year. Seems an odd way to be spiteful to one nation when it impact hundreds of them.
Sadly, you could just well be summing-up one Michel Barnier. From a year or two back.
I can see no other benefit, reason or logic otherwise.

They maybe need to do what TfL learned, that it’s better to shut the entire line for a month and more
I might be wrong but they could be doing some work on Sunday 21st February. I was looking at returning from France that afternoon but there are no booking options available.

Hull to Rotterdam this morning in the car, we were the 5th vehicle off the ship and it still took ages to clear the EES, 5 cyclists each took about 4 minutes each and then the two campers containing couples took about 10 minutes.
Best was as we were doing the biometrics a bloke swans in nextt to us and was about to complete his when customs ask what about the two others in your car?
His reply was that they have already done their biometrics a couple of months back, he honestly believed that once done you could just waltz into Europe without presenting yourself to immigration or even getting out of your car
Customs officer said it is taking at least double the time to clear the passengers through and it is not even peak time as yet

And I flew through the other day although I was the first bike off and a massive queue behind. Few months ago it took a while to get through.

St Malo on Britanny ferries, docked at 9.15 and were on our way by 10am. There was no EES and neither did they stamp passports.

I think much of the delay is due to their systems being shite... the UK's E-Gates are definitely quicker, and they do pretty much the same thing...

Dover last week.

No queue for any vehicles bar trucks

No biometrics

No helmet off

No delay

Both ways same

There are no delays…. I read it here.

Clearly the scheme, apparently targeted at the UK out of spite (I read that here, too) needs to be revamped and stiffened up in order to achieve its aim.

I haven't gone back through all 19 pages of posts, so sorry if this is a repeat...

You should be aware that you must only register for EES once, using the machines at the airport or elsewhere. This is because every time you use the registration machine it creates a new profile against the same passport. When you then try to get through one of the automatic border gates at certain airports, it won't let you through and you have to join the queue to see a border control officer.

This definitely happens at Schiphol and the border officers admit it's a fault, not helped by the fact that every time you land from a non-Schengen destination that shepherd you towards the EES machines. At CDG, the system works without issue, so it isn't an EU-wide problem.

Going through AMS again tomorrow and expecting to be delayed for this reason

There are no delays mostly because they are not using it!

Exiting St Malo today, no EES, no passport stamp either- so we were not stamped in or out.

Presumably Europlod know we’ve entered and exited France because they scanned our passports, which begs the question why is EES even needed, and why are passport stamps needed?

Well, it’s clearly failing in its sole purpose of spite.

Hopefully they’ll turn it on, just in time to delay Brexit voting bods who MUST be off and away quickly, or their holiday plans are ruined, before they have even rolled a wheel in the god forsaken Soviet state.

Hopefully the common sense that is somehow seeping through in the moribund Eurozone areas that would still like British tourists to turn up and spend their British pounds on lager and egg and chips, and are therefore turning the stupid and it would seem unnecessary system off, will spread.

😉

Doesn't happen at Dutch ports as there are no automaric border gates, so same rigmarole every time

Just boarded at Caen for Brittany Ferries. No sign of EES at all and no idea where they’ll put it. Same old passport check and on you go in operation currently.
