I have the following set up:
kit 300 pro avi autocom.
zumo 550
lead 1299 but only the stereo bit commected to the zumo aux 2.
the mic lead left off.
BT dongle (autocom part) to Aux 1
standard autocom headset as supplied with the kit.
i've fitted the headset to a Caberg Justissimo lid.
............................
Problems:
The sound from the Zumo music is too quiet.
I haven't yet heard any directions from the zumo.
The phone works perfect when not moving, but when I move at about 20mph the caller can't hear me.

My guess is that the headphones are not positioned close enough to my ears. The Carberg has removeable foam insets to leave a gap for the speakers. Very comfortable but too far from the ears I think.

My suggested solution is to get some ultimate ear monitors, but the autocom speakers are wired into the headset loom. I will have to cut and solder on the ultimates.

Any suggestions to improve the set up are most welcomely received

:)

Hmmm if I had mine all set up I'd know this but I don't have the requisite Autocom parts yet.

Yes earpieces and microphone placement are CRTITICAL for optimal performance, especially if you are wearing hearing protection along with it all.

I presume you've looked at the music and phone sound levels on the Zumo and adjusted them accordingly and made sure the correct headset settings are chosen etc.

I will clear up one misunderstanding and that's how you believe the 'Ultimates' work, they interface with the Autocom outside of the helmet by way of either part 1187 or 1188 which are replacement headset leads for the one supplied which has a 3.5mm socket that the monitors plug into.

As you have the standard headset you will have to cut the speakers off though you could replace the headset with the type d headset loom (part 1126) which doesn't have speakers attached.

If I've got the latter part no. wrong I'm sure GSrich will correct me, I've yet to go on the training course :D

thanks Judge, we have already been talking via here. I'm planning to see you at the show in April at Peterbourough. I was concernered when you said I'd need to unplug the speakers but I knew mine were not unplug able. I posted to see what possible alternatives peeps come up with (if any).:)

Are the QT versions that much better and do they compromise on noise suppression?

I had a similar problem when I set up my 550 with an Autocom 200. Couldnt hear bugger all from the Zumo above 30-40 mph. I was able to hear my pillion and Bike to bike although it was quieter than the old Active-7 smart with a 2610.

I think the volume on the 200 & 300 series is not set as high as the older systems and the Zumo volume is also not as good as my old 2610.

My solution was to refit the old Active -7, I can now hear the Zumo at 80 mph although its still quieter than i would like. I'm sure GSrich will say the volume is as good or better on the newer system, but comparing my two systems, the older one is definitley louder.

That's down to my lack of up to date product knowledge (mostly based on my Pro-M1 and Pro-7 Sport). For both I had detachable earpieces from the loom. I went and looked at the unused headsets in my Pro-AVI kit and they are indeed one-piece and then I clocked the 3 different headset types and 3 different headset looms listed in the latest brochure.

Then I remembered Ultimate did (and may still do :nenau) Ultimate versions of the Autocom kits designed for Monitor users which had in the box the 1187 headset lead, no speakers and the headset loom which doesn't require speakers.

They are better because they are more comfortable at the point you would want them most comfortable, furthest into the ear but the noise reduction levels offered are the same.

Sorry for the delay I dnt normally check on this section, on the Zumo check on the bluetooth section and make sure everything is not set to run via the BT dongle/headset as this will in theory not supply the music via the lead inot the AUX2 socket supplying the auto volume.

There are two options, phone to dongle or everything to dongle. So set the phone to headset only and this will then hopefully improve the Zumo volume. If you are running the Super Pro we have had the music upto around 130ish with good volume
