Thought i would try and loosen the fork bottom allen Bolt's before i take them out of the yokes. Problem is it feels like the internals are moving when i turn the bolt's. Any thought's on beaking them free ? I'm guess that this is best done while the forks are on the bike ? same as the top nut's to take out the springs ?
Any help appreciated. I'm just loosening today as i've got other job's to do first.
Thanks.

You could try springs and caps back on. Turn them upside down with the cap on a rag to stop it from getting marked. One person as much pressure as they can to compress the spring while no.2 undoes the bolt. If you've got one then a suitable bit in a drill driver with it set to clutch out, to help 'stun' the bolt out.

Is there a hex hollow in the top of the damper rod? If so you would need to find a piece of hex bar or bolt head that would fit this and construct a basic tool long enough to be able to reach down the tube whilst having sufficient outside the tube to get a spanner on or to hold in a vice to lock it whilst undoing the bottom bolt.

The fork's are still on the bike. I've not taken the top nut's off yet to tackle the springs. I thought i could just loosen the bottoms off before taking the forks out of the yokes. Clearly this is'nt going to work out so maybe just remove the forks and take them apart once off the bike. I'm waiting on parts so no point in doing it just yet as it will be a balancing job with no front wheel and forks. The main stand does'nt allow for pulling the weight back so the bike does'nt tip forward.:blast

Front wheel off. Spindle back in. Rachet strap round spindle and fork yolks. Rachet up tight to compress forks.
Should now be able to loosen bolts :thumb

Good luck.........

air gun or cordless impact driver, dont use it to put the bolts back in though,it could strip the threads

Managed it by sticking a broom handle down and inverting the forks while pushing down and turning bolt.
Worked quite well once i'd got the smashing myself in the face with the fork leg under control.:D
