Down and left a bit.
Hi i am just about to replace the fork seals on my 2002 1150 gs adventure. had a good look at the post in font of all wisdom which is superb and gives me confidence to try it myself.

One difference noted though is the lover fork strut, mine has a brace right round the outside and i really cant see how it will allow movement of the stantion to get it forward of the top yoke and out...

I know its a model difference but how do i go about gettin a floppy stanction on my bike...???? ( if ya know what i mean... )

Many thanks in advance.......:aidan

So what do you think the 1150 models have different to the 1100, ? it's a different shape, but everything works just the same.

Undo the top nut drop the stanchion and watch it flop around.

I did the seal replacment on my 03 GSA recently & wondered how it would go all floppy  But just undo the one top yoke nut as described & you will be amazed at how floppy it gets. It's actually really scary that one nut can do that to the front end. Once you have undone the nut & dropped the inner fork leg down & out just push handlebars one way & front wheel the other. Dead easy. Infact the hardest part I found was getting the old seal out (Used a blunt screwdriver & was careful not to mark the inside of the tube, a seal puller would of been ideal although there isnt much room under there.

Recently replaced one of my fork seals on an 1100, followed Steptoe's excellent guide and found it to be a doddle. It really helps to find a socket the correct size to push the new seal home.:)
