Trying to take my front forks off to replace the seals. The lower sliders are from from the lower yoke however I’ve e encountered the following problems
1. One complete assembly has been removed but left the threaded mount in the upper guide bush. I have removed the flanged nut but threaded section appears to be held fast. It rotates but I’m not sure whether it’s rotating with the metal insert of the bush. I’ve tried using a drift to force it downward buy does want to move.
2 A similar situation with the other stanchion where I’ve removed the slider but I’m left with a top threaded section and stanchion held fast in the upper bush guide.

Help please!

Can you upload a few photos? I’ll be doing this job soon myself and I’d be very interested. Sorry I can’t be of help.

The first photo shows the 'trapped' stanchion with e M10 nut replaced finger tight, the second tthe trapped threaded section.

Sorry the bolt comes off and the whole thing should slide down including the bolt. Did you use a spanner to secure the the Stanton in place while you loosened the bolt? That’s all I’ve got sorry! But I had mine apart last month and the whole bolt stayed in the Stantion

Yes I used a spanner to hold the stanchion but the threaded section just wound out of the it.
The big issue is that the threads appear to stuck in the bush guides.

Oh dear. They should just slide out. Perhaps some penetrating fluid? Then a vice grips with a decent amount of tea towel to protect the threads? I’m sure someone will be along but they should pull out and down…

Can't be sure, but this may be the same problem I had some years back.

It could be that the thread has been stripped. Only solution is to cut the nut off. A royal pita of a job (if you want to do it without touching the yoke!).

If I am correct, and the thread is stripped, you'll need a new stantion... I got a secondhand one from MW. Not expensive for what it is.

He mentioned that he has removed both nuts. So shouldn't need to cut one off. 👍🏼

It looks like my only course of action st the moment is to remove the top yoke with a view to eventually getting the bushes out as a starter. Then it’s seperate the threaded section from the bush which will mean destroying them by the looks of it.

Assuming I'm not still off track 🤪, then are the threaded spigots on top of the stations rusted into the spherical bearings? If that was the case, maybe some heat on those spigots will break the corrosion enough to knock them out?
Similarly, some heat on the whole yoke and then try knocking out the stations, complete with spherical bearings, which sounds like replacement is due (they are not so cheap 😬). They technically they should be lubricated, but no one does. They're out of sight, out of mind
