I have owned my 1991 R100GSPD since 2005 having changed the fork seals once in that time, for some strange reason the fork oil in the right leg decided to come up out of the fork leg though the seal and deposite itself on the floor of the garage while the bike was not in use, could this be due to a change in atmospheric pressure? Anyway I changed the fork seals but taking it for a short test ride I still have a small leak from the right fork leg seal, on inspecting the stanchion there is a small flat on the front of the stanchion that appears to have been polished, this I guess is accident damage from before my time. So I need to replace the stanchion, this is probably a silly question but are both left and right stanchions the same? I known the internals are different between the left and right. Motorworks do 2 different new replacement stanchions both associated to BMW part: 31421457853 one made by TKN and the other by JMP although the TKN one is out of stock, does anyone have any experience of either of these, which one is best?

Hope this helps - from the MAX BMW fiche for an R100GS PD. Looks like all paralevers R80 - R100 all years have same stanchions.

I made a seal bullet when I changed mine. This lets you fit the seal from the top rather than sliding it on over the bush grooves where there is a good chance of damaging the seal. You’re welcome to borrow it if you want.IMG_0132.jpeg
