Had to remove my sump over the weekend on my 100 GS PD, which has the extended sump fitted. Was removing/replacing the centre stand, which you can't do without removing extended sump !
So, on removal of the sump, I noticed a small object in the bottom - looks very much like a "needle" from a needle bearing, about 10mm long, and approx 2 or 3 mm diameter ( will get exact size later, as bike is round at my pal's garage). But I cannot find or think of anywhere this can have come from.
Initial thoughts were from the oil pressure relief valve, but that part is, according to MotorWorks website, 30mm long, and probably wider.
Second thought was from the rocker arms, but this part looks to be way too big for that,
Third thought was from the oil pressure light switch, but don't think it has such a part inside -never seen one in bits !
So, anyone got any (sensible !) suggestions please ? Hope to put the sump back on next weekend, ready for the Belgium Airhead Rally.
Final thought is that it has somehow been dropped into sump accidentally by previous owner
- I might have a photo of the part available later for better identification.
