Well what started as 2 brothers on 2 bikes evolved into my mate jumping on the back of me, and my brother's son doing likewise. The more the merrier :thumb

One GSA.

And one loaded K1600 GTL. My mate is into photography and brought along his megga (size and weight) DSLR. At least we should have some good pics.

The other thing about my mate is he's never ridden a bike before, or been pillion - so this was going to be some test :augie

The route.

We had the Bank Holiday week to play with, and I sweetened the plan by giving us some mountain biking time in Lake Garda as well as visits to the Porsche and Mercedes museums in Stuttgart (advance warning of lots of car porn pics to come ;) ).

Setting off.

Baden Baden

The first day gave us the opportunity to call into the F1 qualifying at Spa, but in common with lots of Europe this summer it was absolutely tipping it down so we ploughed on :(

Things brightened up going down the Mosel Valley and we stopped in Vianden to dry out.

The dark clouds started rolling in and the remaining part of the journey to Baden Baden was mainly moist.

However our destination was dry.

It gave the opportunity for a few photos before we moved on to the B500 :D

Nice start.....and having the bonus of a pillion who is a photographer too.....:D

Good Man another European Trip. Most interested in the Germany bits as we are planning to do the best bits next year. Looking forward to this Lads Trip:cool::thumby:

:popcorn

As you're not too far off it I would recommend a visit into Verona. The Timmelschoss pass is awesome, why not slightly alter the route to go via Liechtenstein, just to say you have been there:D

Did I mention some car porn

Black Forest, Danube Valley and Bavaria

The B500 goes through Baden Baden by some crazy coincidence :)

Timmelsjoch to Garda

We exit Bad Oberdorf straight on to the Oberjoch Pass.

Into Austria, down the Fernpass and into the valley heading up to Timmelsjoch.

We rolled into Solden and for some reason parked here :augie

Before the attack on Timmy started we were inspired by the silver tongue of a sports shop salesman to GoPro.

We retired to the hotel Regina to set the thing up, a very nice place to stop as well as a receptionist with unbelievable assets ;)

Some time later we were set to go.

DSC_3745.jpg

Only one problem, the GoPro battery was as flat as Kylie and so there is limited footage. I believe some does exist but it has yet to be passed on.

So instead I give you Timmelsjoch c/o pillion pics :thumb

No point hanging around so through the tunnel and into Italy.

It was then, as we came out of the cloud, the intercom sparked into life.

"FUCKING HELL COOPS - HAVE YOU SEEN THE DROP!!! I'M FUCKING SHITTING MYSELF"

DSC_3764.JPG

Fair play to him, he kept on taking photos - with his eyes closed :)

We continued into Italy and down to Lake Garda. By this time our Kylie GoPro had acquired a push up bra to finally five us some footage.

Time to put some physical activity into this break - by removing the engines.

This was our mountain biking route :D

Garda%2Bbikes.tiff

As well as fitting some beer stops in, one of our midst also went 'bear hunting' in the forest armed only with a fist full of dock leaves ;)

He came back empty handed and was quick to visit Aldi for some travel wash on our return to civilisation :augie:augie

The white flag is where we gave up on the continual climb and went back to the beer plan :beerjug:

Lake feds.

Time to let the wind take the strain.

Time for the car porn

We met up with our local guide in Stuttgart - a GPZ nut called Gerhard.

We parked the bikes and took the train.

P8290736.jpg

Firstly a visit to the superb Mercedes museum. I'll come onto the cars, but the building itself is worth a visit. An architectural and structural triumph :thumb2

And so with 600km back to Rotterdam our trip comes to an end.

It was a week, but felt to be a lot longer.

Will my pillion become a biker?

I'm off to the pub to find out :beerjug:
