Hi All,

I bought a 07 GSA online which seemed in good condition, with a full service history, however on closer inspection the frame on the left hand side of the bike , just under the seat has signs of paint bubble and the dreaded rust!!

Is this normal on a 07 GSA? what's the best way to treat it/ cure it. Any advice appreciated

And my 2010 GSA is the same, I find black smooth Hammerite is a good match (assuming your frame is black!). As above, just rub it down and touch up. If that's your only problem then you've bought well.

Last summer my O8 was red rusty everywhere. The powder coaters said it was in Biostrip tank for 2 hours only. Normally bike parts are in all day.
I had it conductive zinc primed with 80% gloss black over the top.

It's sad to have bought a new bike & be faced with this but it's not a hard job and once done it's sorted for ever.

Black and silver smooth Hammerite should be part of your GSA cleaning routine!!

Mine was rubbed back to bare metal cleaned & painted with Action Can High Zinc Black. It made all of feck all difference so something more permanent was needed.
When stripped, it was even rusting under the seat mount rubbers that had never been opened since the bike was built. It basically left the factory rusty.
BMW bought British Leyland/Rover. Looks like mine was built on the Longbridge Metro line.
